How Challenging is this Program in Atlanta Campus?

I understand that there being no wait list and the competitiveness being on the applicant side doesn't mean this program will be easy by any means.

I'd like to know what makes it challenging as I'm sure staying in and making it to the NCLEX is the true battle.

I know check offs are typically 2 attempts then you're out as well as 90% minimum score for dosage calculation exams (how many for this program?) And passing test average of 76% and satisfactory in clinicals. Is there anything else I've left out?

How crazy are the exam questions? Are they reflective of your lecture content and do they reflect consistently NCLEX style format (SATA, order of urgency, etc)? I've heard some make up terrible questions that aren't NCLEX format. At my previous program they put fill in the blank for non-math questions which according to the boards website is not consistent with the exam.

Hi Buyer Beware,

I am actually doing that right now. I left in my senior year of GTC's nursing program so most of my prereqs are done. I think I just need public speaking, sociology, statistics and chem. I guess I am worried I will have a repeat experience with Chamberlain faculty and my entire class doesn't mesh well with their current faculty. It was so horrible 6 of us left the same week. I just want instructors who truly have my best of interest at heart...is that even possible with a pricey institution?

I agree. I'm going to take as many non nursing courses at GPC as I can and then apply to their program as well as the BSN programs at Chamberlain and Kennesaw State. I know someone who graduates next week, and she said she did the same. I already have a BA in psych, so I think most of my classes should be transferable. They want $675 per credit hour! That's more than I paid for my bachelors!

I have had some time from my initial post to come to the logical conclusion that the reason many do not succeed the Chamberlain program is simply that many students think nursing will be doable for them and easy, but learn by the time they take their first exams in courses meant to be pre-reqs for most other programs. GTC, my first school, has an incredible health sciences dept. They cater to the students tbh, but there is still a 50% drop/fail rate of Anatomy & Phys 1. Since Chamberlain is set up differently so you are automatically a nursing student, the program reflects those numbers of students who just come to the realities of nursing school early. Makes sense now.

In addition most students pick Chamberlain because of their 'easy' application/acceptance, especially if you are a 'C' student. Most do not have a choice and Chamberlain know it. Most think it will be an easy ride and then realize how challenging the program is. Once things do not go their way or they realize it's not easy, they are the first to complain. However, those that really succeed, not cheat, and really apply themselves are the one mostly to pass and tough it out through this accelerated program. Take EVERYTHING at face value and this saying is so true (if you apply yourself, you will succeed). I hope we are classmates Summer or Fall of this year..however I'm starting to also research Physician Assistant programs.

Aww that's so kinda of you! I'm trying to see if I'm eligible for athens tech. If not, I'll probably start at chamberlain for their bsn program this fall. Are you looking into fnp for after you complete the bsn?
