Chamberlain Nursing School Acceptance (Houston Campus)

I just turned in my application yesterday. I applied for the September cohort. I have three years of community college credits and they have accepted 42 credit hours after going through my unofficial transcripts so I don't have to take any prereqs (if I get in). My high school GPA was 3.11 and college GPA was 2.83 I am about to take my HESI next week. What do they concentrate on the most? Any HESI tips would be very helpful. I just want some intake on what are my chances of getting in because I'm really doubting myself and worried that I won't get in. I would really appreciate some feedback on what you think. Thank you!

I go to the pearland campus and my gpa was almost exactly the same as yours for college and high school so you are good on that. Also I think on the hesi you have to get a (don't quote me) 75 or 76 I was aiming for an 80 and I think I got like a 86 total they care about your total score. they look at everything so they will look at you know your 3 years of community college as a really good thing. also for your hesi make sure to study conversions (grams to kgs and such) I found the English and grammar type questions to be pretty easy. also you get 2 try anyway so ull be fine! I definitely think you have a good chance of getting in just just take ur time on ur hesi. as long as u do well on that I'm sure ull get in.

Thank you so much for your reply. It gave me a little hope because I had none before. If you don't mind me asking, would you happen to remember your high school and college GPA? I heard that they mainly focus on math and English sections of the test? Did you study bio, anatomy, or chemistry? What was your grade for each individual section? Was 86 your overall score or just math and English?

I'm applying to chamberlain Houston campus as well. I heard they don't worry about anything else on the hesi besides math, reading, grammar. That's it. So it doesn't matter if you pass science, a&p etc. But I would definitely try my best on those anyway. Good luck! !

Congratulations!! If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA and what did you make on the HESI?

HESI book was a great help. The math is very simple. I'm horrible at math and still got a 98% in that area. Mostly fraction problems with a few conversions.

I would study A&P more in depth, more than what's in the HESI.

Out of all the sections, I underestimated Chemistry the most. That was, in my opinion, the most difficult section.

hey sorry for the late reply I got an 86 overall I think. i think I did poorly in the anatomy and chemistry sections but I thibk they don't look at the anatomy because some people haven't taken it yet. but u can go there and ask them questions I've been to the houston campus before they are nice! I have no clue my high school gpa depends weighted or unweighted I think the unweighted was like 3.5 I'm not sureeeee sorry:( i mainly studied math. my college gpa was a 2.85. I definitely think you should make an appointment with one of the people there to talk about everything cuz i think u have a great chance and they will raise ur confidence up. Sorry I don't remember much nursing school fried my brain :)

Haha it's okay! Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have spoken to the admissions advisor but I just wanted some intake from the students who have been there. I have heard from a lot of people that they mainly do focus on the math, vocab, grammar, and reading only. I was supposed to take the HESI on July 1st but they had some technical issue so now it's scheduled for the 7th. I'll let you know what I get. Fingers crossed!!
