Chamberlain Houston Campus

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Published

Well I got into Chamberlain BSN program at the Houston TX campus. I start September 1, 2014. I researched the school for about 4 months before applying and found a whole lot of really good information about them. I'm really impressed with our campus and all it has to offer including clinical sites, and NCLEX scores, even though it's fairly new. I can't wait to start. I realize there aren't many Houston people on here so I just wanted to start a thread and maybe one day when someone else is researching the school they can find me and this thread and I can help them possibly. Chamberlain went from being my last choice to my top choice after everything I found out about them. And I noticed that anyone who has negative things to say about Chamberlain obviously hasn't done their homework. Can't wait to start!

Hi UpcomingNurse2015, I'm trying to pm you but don't have a single idea on how to do that! I'm in the process of applying to Chamberlain and wanted to ask you some questions if you don't mind.

Thanks!

Hopefully I get in for this fall session as well. The only thing I am worried about is the price. Did you get any assistance towards the tuition? I will also be needing two years hopefully. Can you give me an estimate of how much you will be needing to pay for tuition.

I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to and was wondering if one of you that have gotten acceptance into the program may be able to answer.

I know they take a cumulative GPA of all the schools you received credit from. But my question is will they only take a cumulative GPA of the courses that Chamberlain was able to accept?

Dear "reputable" school nursing students,

I cannot believe the criticism from the supposedly "reputable schools" and their "exemplary" student nurses. Take a look at yourself in the mirror and realize that we are going to be working together one day, believe it or not. YOU should be ashamed that you think a for-profit school is not as accredited as your state public or private school. I for one went to a "prestigious" program much like the poster @HBUstudentnurse (I graduated from Baylor University) before embarking on the wonderful journey at Chamberlain College of Nursing. To clarify a few points, the Chamberlain College of Nursing is NOT DeVry, it is a sister school under the DeVry Education Group which manages and owns more rigorous programs across the United States and Internationally than you could possible imagine. I will get a bit conceited here and tell you that I rank 99% in the ATI, 99% on many HESI Course exams and overall my GPA is stellar with 3.94/4.0 with a set graduation of July 2016. I would love for you to rethink your opinion about the Chamberlain nurse, after all, when you are in lab, look around, are your fellow students timid about starting an PIV? Does EVERY, and I mean EVERY student get a hands-on attempt at doing skills? I doubt it. I can guarantee you that your class sizes start way too large and by the time the "lucky" few graduate from your "reputable" schools, its a handful of you in a profession that has one of the largest growing opportunities yet a tremendous shortage, especially in nursing educators.

Sincerely,

George D Tippett

Nicely put.

I am surprised at the opinions posted by those who have never attended Chamberlain, yet somehow have insight on the program. I am currently enrolled at Chamberlain and have been successful thus far. The additional resources offered to assist students in succeeding are endless. Fellow nursing friends from other universities have not been as fortunate.

I have a question for all of you. I am thinking on starting at Chamberlain College of Nursing in Houston and I want to know what to expect. I have a associates degree in science so how long will it take me before I become a bsn.

The time frame is different for each student. It will depend on the amount of credits that will transfer over

can anyone tell me for what sections they mainly focus on for the HESI?

Hey London,

This is Lesli, I am a current student. To be honest the main subjects they focus on are the Science subjects. Mainly Anatomy and Physiology. That is how they decided to accept me. I took the test 2 times. The first time i passed with 90s and above in every section except a&p and bio and chem. I made like a 68 in a&p and failed the other two. They denied me and said i could retest or i would be denied. So i studied for a month nonstop. I retested still failed chem and bio with like a 65 but a&p i passed it with a 98% girl that was my green light :) hope that helped. If you have any other questions email me [email protected]
