Chamberlain College Of Nursing- FNP program

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

I am researching online MSN programs and have narrowed it down to 2-3 and I was wandering if anyone has gone through the Chamberlain College online program for FNP. If so any advice would be helpful. Did you like the program? If not Why? Would you recommend an online program for a MSN?

Thaara3,

Take a deep breath and relax. I'm in the Chamberlain MSN-FNP program and I have three children and work as well. I have completed 7 courses and will begin advanced pathophysiology in March. It is doable, you just have to know how to stay focused and manage your time. The overall FNP program cost around 35,000 which it says on their website. I found that fairly comparable to B&M programs in my area. The program is 2 1/2 years if you take one class at a time, and if your working full time I would suggest that. However, if you are ambitious you can double after the first course until you get to patho and Pharm and then its one class at a time. Immersion weekend only happens right before you start your clinical which is over a year into the program. It is a long weekend and from what I have seen everyone who has gone has done fine. It is intense but doable. Again, you just have to remain focused and know how to manage your time. Best of luck!

Thank you so much for you comment. I feel more relaxed . i am new to this site, so is taking me a while to find everything. I was first debating to choose chamberlain or maryville for MSN-FNP program dut to the fact that chamberlain is fairly new program but i am hearing good things about chamberlain than maryville in this site. Plus I only have to take one class at a time. So I think I am gonna go ahead start at chamberlain. I have been out of school for 6yrs . little nervous about going back especially all online classes. I am glad to hear that you also have three children and doing good in class. I have no friends or family living near me, to send them once in a while, that's why i didnt know if its still doable or not. maybe i should go partime?. but the insurance is through me and need the money to pay bills :( how long can i go with working full time and take one class at a time? can i continue to work full time even when i do my clinicals ?. I really want to do my MSN-FNP. but i am just worried with school, work, family if its doable. how long do you usually spend time on homeworks a week?. do you still have time to spend some quality time with your kids also?. do we get any help from financial aid for graduate degree? or is it just loans?. was it hard to find preceptor? do they have to be FNP also?. or NP in any area?.

Hi!

Any current students of Chamberlain's FNP program please send me a message. I would like to ask questions about their papers and see an example if possible. No this is not to copy! I just want to see to what degree students are writing and what grades it is yielding. Anyone that can help I would greatly appreciate it!

someone was saying chamberlain is under review . what is that mean/? does that mean they might continue the program?.. i am worried now .. whether i should apply another college or not. does it really matter where do you study? thought about applying to maryville university also. does any one graduated already from chamberlain ? did you think they prepare you good for board exam? please reply

I like it so far, I also have 3 kids and work fulltime. I love the q8weeks for each class. I have only taken one class at a time, I don't think I can handle 2 with kids, because if their after school activities and since I'm fulltime wife and at work. I want to enjoy my kids and finish school, so one class at a time worked , but I don't want to miss any time with my kids. I don't know much about maryville. Congrats on starting in July. I started July 2014, and it's almost a year already! Wow!

Thank you. I am so happy you are also like me with three kids and working fulltime with full time mother :). i am also planning to take one class at a time. i dont think i can do more than one class at a time with this busy life .infact, i hope i can make it with just one class at a time. i have 5,4,2yr old and work full time . but recently i was thinking about going part time , because i feel like i dont have time for anything , even to do homework with kids. but then again , i will be loosing money too. but at least i will have some time with kids , and do my FNP. so far, how many hours do you have to spent a week for classes? and how many papers? is there anyone there to help us to proof read papers ? is the teachers really helpful? i also want to enjoy my kids and at the same time want to finish my FNP. i am glad you are doing it at the same time while enjoying kids. i also like the fact its 8 weeks for each classes. how was pharmacology and pathophysiology? did you had hard time finding preceptor? did you go for the lab in chicago yet?

when do you find time to do homework for your school ?at night? because when you work full time and have kids with activities with school. u r a brave women. how do you manange your time? any tips/?

hey dallas,

also do we have to take patho and pharm together? do you know anyone graduated from chamberlain already?

No, u have to get an approval to take 2 class once u are done with the first couple of classes I don't know of any that has graduated yet. I would not be able to take those two class together! Lol

oh thank god, i do not want to take them together. that;'s another thing, i didn't want to go maryville university, where you take patho paharm together there.
