I had a great CRNA

Specialties CRNA

I recently had gallbladder surgery. I was very scared I am a nurse in LTC and I have fibromyalgia. I was afraid that they could not or would not control my pain well. I was very wrong. The CRNA that I had came in to talk to me before surgery and I told her all my fears. She was awsome she answered all my questions and told me she was going to give me some sort of cocktail for nausea with benadryl, reglan and zofran and that while in surgery she was going to use lidocaine and something else internally that would make it less painful coming out of anesthetic. When I woke up in recovery she was still there and I had demerol IV until I went home on percocet. She was just awsome and obviously very well trained and truely cared about my pain level. I hope you are all as good as she was. Just needed to get that all out. Thanks

That's great to hear angel! Another satisfied patient! I hope you're feeling better now!

Angel,

Thanks for your post--it is nice to receive a compliment regarding our profession.

When someone asks me what the difference is between MD and Nurse anesthesiology practice, one of the thinks I mention is the nursing dimension that we bring to the patients. The extra touch is always appreciated.

I think what CRNA's do is amazing. I loved the feeling of trusting someone with my pain relief during my cesarean and after.

It would be too scary for me though . . . . I love to watch them put epidurals in but the thought of doing it myself :chair:

And big thanks from me too.

I saw my surgeon today (unfortunately one of the incisions is infected) and I told him how wonderful I thought the CRNA was and how reassuring she was. He said he would be seeing her in a few minutes for another procedure so he would be sure to let her know of the compliment. Also contacted admin. of the surgery center and let them know how pleased I was with the care I recieved. We always get to hear about the complaints (I dont hesitate to complain either) I think it is just as important to hear about the good too.
