Applying to Frontier Bridge class of 80!

Specialties CNM

Published

I sent in my application yesterday for the class of 80 bridge program. Now I must wait patiently for my phone interview and then a LONG wait to see if I get in! I have only been a nurse for 1 year. I worked in our local hospital as a nurses aid from nov 2004 until Nov 2009. I spent one year as an aid in L & D and then 3 years on medsurg going from an aid to extern to intern. I left the hospital for hours better adjusted so I could go back to school ( no nights holidays or weekends :lol2:). I have been working as a fill in nurse for a local CNM for about 2 years and she gave me a great reference, also my former supervisor of the L & D was a reference. I have wanted to persue a career as a midwife for more than 10 years, but just now have the opportunity.

Anyone else sent in their application for class of 80 bridge?

Anxiously awaiting...

Sounds like you have a really good shot!I'm not applying, maybe next year, but what do you do as a fill in nurse? If I may ask..

Specializes in LDRP.

I am. Been a nurse for 5 years this May. Did 15 months in cardiology, 3.5 in Labor and Delivery, and 3 months in Community Health. I also work PRN in OB home health.

Just finishing updating resume and will be mailing application on Monday!

I "fill in" when her full time nurse needs a weekend off or goes on vacation or is sick. It is my favorite and I would actually do it for free! There is a midwife run birth center about 45 minutes from my house I am actually applying at as they have 2 nurses about ready to retire. That job would be PERFECT for me!

Good luck HappyNurse hope to see you at the end of summer!

Yes, I applied for class 80 as well. I've been an L&D nurse for 4 years, had midwives with two of my three births (one in a hospital, the other a homebirth) and I'm also an IBCLC, so I'm hoping that will give me a good chance to get in.

We have a FSBC in our community as well, and they precept a lot of Frontier SNMs there. I too would love to work there as an RN.

Good luck to everyone!

My application was sent off today...I am not sure what to think about the possibility of accepting my app I have only been a nurse for 2 years and work mostly med-surg tele through a local agency so I really do a little of every kind of nursing-I go where the need is but have very little experience in OB nursing as a patient I have plenty :D I have six kids had a midwife with the last three and am a pro at nursing babes:redpinkhe You can't find OB work around here people have to die before something opens or it is so cliqueish that you don't want to be a nurse there does anyone know how they set up phone interviews? Do we call or they call us? How long before we find out if we are accepted? Good Luck everyone...hope to see you all next summer!!!!!! :yeah:

Hey Talitha!

I have four children myself, and that in itself is a job, isn't it? If you meet all the other requirements, I don't see why you wouldn't be admitted. It never said that labor and delivery was necessary to be admitted, right? And medsurg can be useful, too, as you will learn a lot about chronic medical conditions.

Good luck!! PM or email me if you want to chat.

My husband and I have 6 children also! Are we crazy for wanting to go back to school, lol?

I have applied to FSMFN bridge class of 80 with aspirations of becoming a FNP. I have 1.5 years in the ER 3 years as a MA in a rural health clinic and 3 years as a Corpsman (20 years ago). I have 9 years as a laboratory technician in between. I am hopeful and really looking forward to going to Frontier; looks like an outstanding school. As far as family is concerned I am a single father of two with full-time custody of one. I look forward to hearing from others applying to the bridge 80 class and we'll see you in Kentucky in August!

i receive 2 emails from the school saying they would contact me soon for what i am assuming is the phone interview. i receive both of those on tuesday, so i am hoping to hear from someone today to set up interview time. patience is not a virtue of mine, so this is really hard for me. :D

Shannon (or anyone else)-

How long after you sent in your application did you get the email about setting up the phone call?

Thanks!
