I am starting a thread for UFV, Sept 2013 applicants (thus the title)

I am a Jan 2013 reject and hoping for a spot in the fall. Is anyone here a repeat applicant?

what did they ask you?

I agree with rkd101. If I have to reapply though, I will find it a hassle to contact volunteer coordinators again. I feel like at some point they will forget me or won't have my file.

Has anyone else had their interview yet?? I'm curious to hear how they're going! One more week for me. Not dying from anxiety as of now, but I'm sure that will change...

i have my interview on april 12th, but i feel so tired of this whole process. im just complaining though and i know that i should be greatful. So come on everyone! while we have this opportunity, lets take it and embrace it!! because we just have a bit more to go!! :) we can do it!! yay!!

I think it's pretty natural to feel kind of fed up with the process...especially if it's not your first time. It's a long wait to find out something that will dramatically affect your life (socially, financially...every way basically). So I completely understand your frustration. For me it's tough because I'm a huge "planner". I hate the unknown...and I just want to know so I can start budgeting and whatnot. That being said though, I completely agree with you that it's a privilege to have gotten as far as we have. We really only have another 4 weeks of waiting before we know (and after 2 months since the deadline, what's another couple of weeks??).

Does anyone know how they calculate the points for the essay portion?

Yeah I agree.. it's frustrating for second timers. I hate waiting and not knowing What's going to happen..

And I don't know how they score their essays. In fact last intake they didn't even tell me my total points..

Hmm I don't think I did very well on the essay portion but my interview went pretty well i think. I just hope it's enough. One more month of waiting :o

If your interview went well, don't worry too much about the essay. If I'm not mistaken, the interview is worth 13 points, while the essay is worth only 4 points. I'm sure you didn't get 0 on the essay, so it really won't make a huge impact on your total points.

good luck @Joyith3 on your interview and essay! hope for the best and just be confident :) and thankyou @paraston for the kind words of encouragement :) defs helps to know people are on your side :) hope whoever had their interviews feels good. mind you, how did they go? any suggestions or any questions like case scenarios you remember? thanks

I just had my interview today! May cannot come any sooner :( Good luck to the rest of you guys who still have interviews to come!

How did yours go binging??

I had mine today as well...maybe I saw you! I just got home a little while ago, it went for just under 2 hours! But so good! The lady I had was awesome and made it very comfortable. She told me a lot of stories about the clinicals she's doing with students right now. She didn't really give me a recap of all my points, but she told me several times about how well my interview went. She also told me I got full points for grades (I applied with 2 A's and 2 B's) but apparently got extra marks for taking 5 university courses at once and achieving all A's or B's and for taking my 3 non-nursing courses at once and achieving all A's and B's. So I'm feeling good at this point...but you NEVER know! I don't think they like to advertise the "bonus" points though. I remember in last intake at the info session someone asked what we get bonus points for and she kind of laughed and said "we don't give bonus points"...so I don't know if I'd ask about them in the interview before they tell you that you have them.

Other than that, standard interview questions, just read up on interview prep questions and be confident and you'll do fine! I have a hard time remembering specific questions because it seemed like natural conversation. Not sure what she was asking me out of curiosity and what she was asking me for the interview. It was a great experience though, and I'm so happy to be done it.

Letters should all be received by May 10! Hang in there everyone, and good luck to whoever has interviews left!
