Hello,

I'm new to the site and I saw the thread for last years appilcants to UBC nursing so I thought I would start one for this year.

How is the application going for everyone, any tips from 2010 intake?

Hey all, I've been lurking on this thread since the beginning. Happy to say that I too will start in 2011 at UBC. I just ordered my uniforms online after trying them on. I'm unbelievably excited, and can't wait to start! I want the final textbook list so I can start reading now!!!

I'm excited too!

Ordered my scrubs online yesterday and did my immunization review. Word of warning: the MMR shot burns! The nurse was laughing at my expression - she said she didn't know whether or not to warn me first so there you go - you have been warned!

Hey Allemande,

About the immunization review... Did you take any paperwork into the appointment with you? Did you get anything completed by your family doctor showing shots you received as a child? And do you have to return in 2-3 days for a 2nd appointment still?

Thx

p.s. Excited to be a student...but being unemployed, not so much!! :S

Yeah, I took all my childhood immunization records with me. I got sent back to my family doctor to check for Hep A/B and something else. And yes, I have to go back today for the TB skin test reading.

Hey! Does anyone that has ordered their scrubs know if you can order different size bottom and tops? (The sizing chart seems very big- small is size 8-10??)

Proofof- Can you give any feedback on how the scrubs fit??

Thanks so much!

Shay21,

Yes! You can order different sized tops and bottoms. I had to. I usually wear size M scrubs but found the bottoms to be tight in the quads, so moved up to a very roomy Lg, hoping they would shrink. Otherwise, they fit like unisex scrubs fit, but with so many pockets and side tie.

I usually wear a S/M in tops and a M/L in pants and ended up ordering XS for tops and S for bottoms. They are quite roomy. I was told that they should be very loose and was told to get a size up for both but after I tried it on, it was still quite large even though I had clothes under.

Best bet is to go try them on!

Just a little FYI for those of your ordering scrubs. You need them by mid-october. The tops fit like any top you would buy so if you are a small then a small or x-small will be just fine. The bottoms however are a little tricky as they have NO GIVE in them so although they say a small fits a 8-10, I would say its actually more like a size 6 because if you have hips at all they don't stretch. They are unisex so they are cut straight. That being said, the difference between sizes is huge! I fit a small pant but it is a little tight and the mediums, I am swimming in. SO I just ordered the top and then went out and got scrub pants in the same colour at a random scrub store. Only the top matters because it is the UBC logo, the bottoms don't matter as long as it is the same colour.

Also during your first week at school you can try some on but it takes a while for your srubs to come in the mail if you wait until September so make sure you order them by the 2nd week in September for sure!

Thanks for all the helpful info!! I am going to go try them on Wednesday (think that would be the best lol) Just registered too... so exciting!! :)

Hi everyone, I just wanted to let those who are still waiting patiently on the waitlist, that I received an offer of admission this morning!!!!!! :lol2: HANG IN THERE - there's still hope :redbeathe....I received my offer today and it's not even the 15th yet!!!:)

.........and yes, I actually did start crying tears of joy when I saw the email haha! :o

yayyyyy!!! way to go iris!!!!!! i knew you'd get it!!

I know the thread topic right now is currently scrubs, but if yall don't mind me diverting for sec, i was wondering if we could arrange some sort of pre-orientation dinner date so we could get to know each other better!

And also, which timetable are yall going to register for? I'd like to join one with some of my fellow A.N. forum followers in it because you guys have been such a strong support group for me and i'd like to keep it going through the year!

Pre-orientation meet sounds great - so excited/nervous!

Trying on scrubs tomorrow!

Groups A and B are full already, how is that possible I was only able to register today?

Does anyone else have a Saturday job they are trying to keep?
