Second-Entry Nursing Programs - 2014 Hopeful

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hi Everyone!

I'm starting this topic for those who are applying to 2nd-entry programs, to start in 2014.

A bit about myself:

I'll be applying to University of Ottawa and University of Toronto.

Graduated with a Social Science degree from Ottawa U w/ 7.2 CGPA (aka 3.33 on 4.0 scale, or a B+)

A lot of community involvement in health promotion, youth counseling programs, women's health research..

Currently taking the prerequisites...

I'm kind of nervous about the applications because I know how competitive these programs are... Any advice from current 2-year BScN students would be great!

Let's get this thread going

Oh and I received the offer by e-mail on the 13th, so last Tuesday. I won't be accepting it though.

I got offer from humber -unb for accelerated nursing programme.I am still waiting for acceptence from tren, uoft.

Yes, Western deferred my acceptance until after my final grades, which they should have by now, but I haven't heard anything from them recently; York is waiting for me to finish one of my pre-reqs before they make a decision; I got wait-listed at Queens. That's all the other ones I applied to.

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

I'm waiting on humber, Trent, Lakehead and UofT. I heard most of the Lakehead compressed acceptances have gone out from the program adviser and he said only if spots open up, then more offers will be given out. Humber, there is a wait-list (which i'm on) and I think it will start moving Late May/Early June when ppl accept or reject their offers.

Trent not sure really. Anyone get an offer, what's the deadline to accept your offer?

As for UofT i am wondering whether most offers have been given out already as end of May is soon approaching? or hopefully they are still gradually sending out offers?

I contacted Western a while ago, and this is what they had replied.

At this time, no further offers will be made until our final round at the end of May. In this round we will notify all students with all documents processed if they have been offered admission, waitlisted, or denied to the program.

So hopefully we will hear soon :) I wouldn't be surprised if we hear after May as well though because looking at threads from last year some people heard at the beginning of June. At least we will know very shortly! Good luck to everyone still waiting on Western.

I just called Western Admissions office and the lady confirmed that their largest round of admissions doesn't go out until the end of May. She said typically in past years its been the last day of May too so you're right people probably won't get an answer until beginning of June!! I guess all of us waiting for Western have another week and a half. Good luck to everyone!

I received an admission offer from Trent yesterday!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Congrats all! Those of you who received acceptances from Trent, did you get them by email or through the myTrent portal?

Has anyone contacted UofT to see how much longer we should wait until we get an answer regarding admission?

I received an admission offer from Trent yesterday!

Hey, Congrats! :) do you mind sharing what your GPA was?

I received an alternate offer from Trent last week (honours science) but haven't heard about nursing yet. Any ideas about the chances of getting into nursing after received an alternate offer?
