Hi Everyone!
I'm starting this topic for those who are applying to 2nd-entry programs, to start in 2014.
A bit about myself:
I'll be applying to University of Ottawa and University of Toronto.
Graduated with a Social Science degree from Ottawa U w/ 7.2 CGPA (aka 3.33 on 4.0 scale, or a B+)
A lot of community involvement in health promotion, youth counseling programs, women's health research..
Currently taking the prerequisites...
I'm kind of nervous about the applications because I know how competitive these programs are... Any advice from current 2-year BScN students would be great!
Let's get this thread going
On April 22nd I received an acceptance from MAC, and on April 23rd I received an acceptance to UofT. Not sure which I will be accepting yet but this means I will be declining my Queens acceptance so hopefully this opens up a spot for someone else! I was wondering if anyone knows if MAC requires a deposit upon acceptance since I'm still crossing my fingers for Western. Good luck to everyone!
I accepted my offer to Mac last week and there was no deposit required! I had until April 30th to accept and my offer said I could still cancel my acceptance after that date.
I got my acceptance into UofT this morning via email!!
Looking forward to meeting some of you guys in Sept!
I also applied to McMaster and York but I haven't heard back from them yet.
To everyone else still waiting to hear back... hang in there! I know how painful the wait is but from talking to people in these programs, it seems like a lot of offers come out in May
Congrats on all the acceptances! Looks like things are really rolling now. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you who'll be at UofT.
I was placed on Queen's wait-list on April 24th. I'm supposed to email them back saying I want the spot.
And I was just offered a spot at York on April 30th. Will decline that one soon.
I just received an acceptance from UofT by email! This means I will be freeing up my spot at Queen's. The program at Queen's is awesome but finances are a big issue for me and I can live at home if I go to UofT. Good luck to everyone. The people going into accelerated nursing programs have incredible marks and experience - it's going to be a huge privilege to work with you all in the years to come.

Congratulations! Would you mind sharing your credentials? :)
For those who are wondering what it takes to get a UofT acceptance these days (got mine last week:)), I believe they would have calculated my GPA on the last ten credits as 3.7 (on a 4.3 scale). My just-completed undergrad is in health studies and I was a paid developmental service worker at a hospital last summer. What I hope positioned me well is my extensive volunteer experience which includes: HIV education in South Africa; HIV research at a Vancouver hospital; palliative care training and experience; helping adults with developmental disabilities engage in exercise programs; speaker coordinator for a healthcare conference; working one-on-one with children with severe disabilities.
I have been admitted to the York and UFT program. I'm having a hard time deciding between the two programs. I was just wondering if anyone could provide any insight about the programs / explain why they may have chosen one over the other.
I would really appreciate it!
and congrats to everyone that has got in!!
Hey guys! I'm late joining this but I'm glad I found it so I can get feedback from all those waiting. I applied to McMaster, University of Toronto, Trent University and of course Western, all for the accelerated nursing programs. I'm extremely hopeful but at the same time, my grades aren't AMAZING. I figured by now they would have rejected me so I guess I'm staying hopeful but keeping a level head at the same time.
I just completed my Honours double degree in Biology and Psychology B.Sc. at Wilfrid Laurier University in April 2014, with a minor in Chemistry. My grades are good but I wouldn't say they're fantastic. I have done volunteer work at a doctor's office, as well as in the emergency room of the hospital back home. Has anyone heard from Western yet? It's my first choice due to the shortest time-frame as well as it's the closest to home. I'm SO hoping I get in. Anyone else feel like they're in the same boat?
