CPNRE - January 11th, 2012

Without talking about specific material from the exam of course, discuss how you found the exam? Difficulty level? Did the CPNRE prep manual/predictor test compare to the exam itself?

Also, feel free to post results here, when they arrive of course!

This is also the first writing of the "new" CPNRE. Prior to yesterdays writing, the exam was 8 hours long, divided into 2 booklets, rather than 4 hours and 1 booklet. As far as the content and difficulty level of this exam compared to those prior, I'm not sure if that changed as well.

I personally found the exam to be a bit more difficult than the practice exam in the CPNRE prep guide, as well as the online predictor test. I scored %95-%100 on the predictor tests, which means it concluded I have a 95-100 % chance of passing the CPNRE. I found the answers in the prep guide and the predictor test to be fairly obvious, where as on the actual CPNRE, I read a lot of questions, thought I knew the answer before looking at the available choices, but once seeing the options I wasn't so sure anymore.

Through my PN course I averaged a mixture of high 70s and low 80s during finals but I must say, I have no idea how I did on this exam. It's really one of those exams where I either did extremely well, or failed miserably. At least that's how it feels!

I wish everyone the best of luck and I hope we all get that PASS letter in the mail!

Keep us posted & share your thoughts here! :)

No it came in one of those standard white envelopes you mail letters in. And the envelope was very thin with just 2 pieces of paper.

Hope your comes soon!

thats werid all my friends in brampton/missisagua got their results but i didnt and i live in brampton

nothing in my mailbox either...maybe tomorrow, another stressful night.

Got mine in the mail today. I'm in Sudbury. I passed!

Specializes in OR.

hi I've been reading this thread since it was posted. I also took the exam last January 11 in Toronto. I received my letter this morning (Toronto) and I guess I passed!! The last nursing exam I took (NCLEX-RN) had the "PASS" word in it, but in this case, it was nowhere to be found, I'll take "SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED" in lieu of it!:lol2:

The letter was in a small white envelop, it was also asking for the documents that I haven't submitted yet to complete my registration.

I'm an IEN from PI and this has not been easy for me. Instead of attending review classes, I gathered all the info about CPNRE, and read the recommended books and review materials, I borrowed most of the books from the library. I also took the 2nd Exam on the Predictor test and scored 95%. I'm sharing this to those who will be taking CPNRE in the future, use your available resources (e.g. library; internet).

Thank God! Congratulations!!!:yelclap::yeah:

The job hunting starts now, goodluck!

Just received my results........ I PASSED!!!!! Good job and good luck everyone! *think positive*

Hey Everyone,

I wrote the exam in January and got my results today. I had my son open the envelope and read me the result which was a successful passing. It was my first time writing the exam.

I had second thoughts and sleepless nights thinking of what I should or could have done better. I did not go back and recheck any of my results, and that was a good things as I may have changed some of my answers. Overall the exam was very pyschosocial in all context and definately had you thinking as the two most sensible answers now put you to the test as to which would be the best answer. Most of the questions asked "what is the first thing the nurse would do". Very little calculations in fact I think there were only two on IV calculations.

Congratulation to all that have passed and for those that have not, it is not over. Keep in mind that all the theory that was thought during the 2 years of nursing school may not even come close to some of the questions they would be asking. Even though I did the predictor tests and passed and had the practice book I knew that it was not enough. I signed up for a three month prep course every sunday for three months and 4 days leading up to the exam. I had a very knowledgeable RN that taught both the RN and RPN. She helped us master timing, and went through each system in depth with lots of questions.

I went to a very reputable college for my program and yet was amazed at the information and questions this teacher was bringing to us, some of which was not taught in the program in so much respect. As you can see it benefited me, I may have been able to pass without her help, but looking back at some of the practice questions we did in class, came pretty close to analyzing the exam Q including timing, timing, timing. It meant everything.

It was my last chance. THANK GOD I passed!! wooohooo

Passed in Ottawa. Good luck to everyone who hasn't received theirs yet. Congratulations to those who passed. If you didn't pass try again. This exam was not easy and both the pass and fail letter will come in the same envelope. If it's thick you failed, if it's thin you passed. This was my second attempt and I am very relieved.

Comes in a small white envelope :lol2:

COngratulations to all who passed the exam..im just wondering got my result today and as you all know passing is 101 and my score is 100...close but no cigar...i received an enclosed letter regarding the hand scoring, did anyone tried this service? any advice please? thanks...

hey m2bc.

Sorry to hear about this. I failed on my first attempt in september. I failed by 2 questions. I did the hand scoring and i still ended up failing. honestly i thought that it was a money grab and i was not impressed about how they sent me the results. they put the word fail in the biggest writing ever. it was really degrading. thats my opinion, but for one question maybe it is worth is, just incase you may have erased something wrong.
