CPNRE - January 11th, 2012

Without talking about specific material from the exam of course, discuss how you found the exam? Difficulty level? Did the CPNRE prep manual/predictor test compare to the exam itself?

Also, feel free to post results here, when they arrive of course!

This is also the first writing of the "new" CPNRE. Prior to yesterdays writing, the exam was 8 hours long, divided into 2 booklets, rather than 4 hours and 1 booklet. As far as the content and difficulty level of this exam compared to those prior, I'm not sure if that changed as well.

I personally found the exam to be a bit more difficult than the practice exam in the CPNRE prep guide, as well as the online predictor test. I scored %95-%100 on the predictor tests, which means it concluded I have a 95-100 % chance of passing the CPNRE. I found the answers in the prep guide and the predictor test to be fairly obvious, where as on the actual CPNRE, I read a lot of questions, thought I knew the answer before looking at the available choices, but once seeing the options I wasn't so sure anymore.

Through my PN course I averaged a mixture of high 70s and low 80s during finals but I must say, I have no idea how I did on this exam. It's really one of those exams where I either did extremely well, or failed miserably. At least that's how it feels!

I wish everyone the best of luck and I hope we all get that PASS letter in the mail!

Keep us posted & share your thoughts here! :)

Hi Everyone! Got my envelope today and had to get my husband to open it and read it over the phone while I was at work because I don't think I could have opened it myself! But, thank God, I passed!!! Thanks to everyone on this site...you all really gave me hope during this way-too-long wait!

Just got my mail today and I passed!

So relieved, my hands was shaking when I opened it..

Anyone from Victoria get their results yet? Thank you

Congrats to all those who passed! :) To those who didn't pass, don't beat yourself up! :)

Sorry meant to say congrats to all who passed. Those who didn't make it, don't give up. Try again. But do give youself a mini break first. Make yourself some questions from your notes. This may help you. I wish you the best of luck next time you write. My prayers, and I'm sure lots of prayers will going your way.

Hi blue eyed girlCingrats on passing. Why do you say it saved you big time. I thought there was no grade except if you failed? Or are you just assuming what you got? Just wondering. Thanks

Yes, I'm assuming that low passing mark saved me, since I found the exam to be pretty intense and I found lot's of mistakes. Wasn't ready for so many pharm and mental health questions but I guess I did better than I thought:)

First of all, whatever you study make sure you read it slowly and understand what you are reading. Try to read rationale from your prep guides and try to figure out why is something this way not the other. First time when I wrote my exam , I didn't study the right way , just went through the books and failed.

Second of all, work on the questions you had on the exam. If you are to rewrite, that is.

The books I used are: " Fundamentals of Nursing"- this is a must, start reading early so you have enough time for this book, but it's worth it.

Also Prep guide 3rd and 4th ed and Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Practical Nursing for the NCLEX-PN , 16th edition.

GOOD LUCK!

congrats to everyone who passed! and to those who didn't, don't give up! use it as a learning experience & go for it again in May. Remember to study the rationale of any review questions you go through, that's the most important part. Choosing the right answer is one thing, but knowing why it's the right answer is so crucial to your success.

Best of luck in your new career everyone :)
