I wish there was a way to let the CNO know how insulting we RPNs/LPNs find it that they seem to think offering up our exam as a consolation prize is acceptable.
Well, I'm registered in Ontario, so I doubt they'd value my opinion. Maybe it's time some of the RPNs in Ontario bring this to CNO's attention.

Oh, and for the people who are posting they've now failed three times -- were you educated in Canada prior to going to university? Their written English and grammar is a bit "iffy", I'm wondering how their reading comprehension affected their results?

    Fiona,
You are, or you are not, registered in Ontario? I agree, something needs to be done. If you don't have to complete a PN course , but can still write the CPNRE and practice as an RPN if you pass, then anyone should be able to write the CNRE and practice as a RN if they can pass it.

I was wondering the same thing about education too.

I just received a bad news. My nursing career is over. Yes, I am no longer one of you, but I feel a need to share my story. I have failed the CRNE for the third time and honestly, I don't know what is there left for me. I know things happen for a reason. sometimes, i just think that GOD is being so unfair. Throughout my nursing school, all i did was to do my best both theory and clinical. I have received praises being a "very good" Graduate Nurse. But then again, all has to end with an examination that I can't seem to pass even though I have put my thoughts and heart on preparing for it. At some point, I think of myself as a dumb individual, up for no good. If nursing was not meant for me, why did HE made it possible for me to even complete my Degree Program? I have so many questions to GOD right now. I have prayed hard for that moment of finally receiving a letter with the word "PASS" on it, but instead a phone call saying I have failed on my third attempt and had to wait for a letter containing my options.

Nursing Has always been my dream and I can't see myself pursuing other career in life. I don't think I can handle another 4 years of schooling or even the strength to even try to put my life back on track. I know that God has a reason for why I'm going through this test right now (one I consider the hardest test in my life, so far), and probably there is more to come. I have so much faith in him that in spite it all, I still look forward to that one morning of waking up from my sleep and the pain, the sadness, the sufferings are over. I know that HE works in ways unimaginable. I know that he hears my prayer and in his own time he'll grant those prayers. But for now, all I needed is some sort of encouragement from you, whoever you are reading this post right now.

I still thank GOD because I have my life, I am breathing, I can still appreciate all the good things he had created. As long as there is tomorrow, I will continue to fight a good fight!
    Hi yahy,
I can totally relate to what you are going through a year ago. I am needing advice on how to keep on going as I am really emotionally devastated. Could you please PM me?

    Thanks.

i feel u ecclessia... i have failed my last attempt... and im completely lost. Im in huge depression now since i never failed in my life except this CRNE exam. I cnt believe it... i dont know what to do now. i need help as well
hello.i have the same situation as you I tooked the CRNE last feb 2011, and its my third time, and I failed for just three points. It would be great if the CNO would show which specific area I failed, because when I did the exam, I was confident with all my answers. Why did this CNO dont want to show and explain my errors...it so annoying.
yeah..i feel for you..its so depressing, despite of all the preparation and and long time reviewing, We got failed!!!!damn!

as read from soem of tth thread here that we are going to have refresher course, from where?which school?, I dont know!Apealing to CNO for the 4th time is also possible if you have valid reason.with respect to RPN, you can apply for assesment for RPN and take the exam, as long as you are still in your safe pratice.

I'm an IEN by the way!

I was reading your post and truly feels the fact after 3rd attempt.

I was not in your shoes but I understood how you felt. The exam is challenging even though the passing score is 97% each time, but the passing rate for internationally trained nurses are only 67-70%.

I would suggest you to call the college of nursing of your province and make an appointment with the officer. And figure out what other options you have in order to request a 4th time to write the crne? Personally, I haven't heard or known anyone in this situation, but there is always a possibility in life.

You just got your result back, you probably do need sometime to calm down and accept the fact of failure on your 3rd attempt. Take enough time to clear up your mind. Then, find a quiet spot, sit down and refresh your memory. How did you perfrom the past three times? Look at your result, compare the score each time. Find out where was your weakness? Did you find a pattern when you wrote the test 3 times?

I really want to help you, provide you tips. but first, you need to start to answer those questions.

Keep positive even if it's hard to do so.

Are you new to this site? There is an option for searching other people's comments/threats.

If you read the yayh's , I did a search and it seems like the person is trying to write the NCLEX.

but anyhow, no matter CRNE or NCLEX, it's not one easier than the other. Different format exam for different country. But some hinks for you, the econmony in States is really bad, even new grad can't find full-time job. so you could imagine the nursing job marketing in states.

anyway, Good luck with all your decision.

Hello guys. I am also one of the few who have failed the CRNE 3x, and most recently, the exam on February of this year. I'm just wondering, how lenient is CNO with giving out a 4th chance in writing the exam? This is my only chance in practicing nursing here in Canada, and I am at lost of what to do..

@ulid, ecclessia and jmarc99.. What are your plans now at this moment? I am also from Ontario, and have no clue on what to do next..

hi there, I also graduated from Ontario and failed the CRNE 3x. I relocated in BC and made an appeal to CRNBC and granted me a 4th writing. I took a remedial course and tutorial prior to my 4th writing last Feb 2011 and unfortunately, I still did not pass the exam. I was really frustrated and upset from what happened but I can't do anything anymore....life must go on. I'm not giving up yet and I am still going to try for my 5th writing. So for those of you who have failed 3x, don't feel helpless because you can still request for a 4th writing. If you need info on how to go about it, please feel free to contact me.

are you an internationally-trained nurse? Despite the fact of writing 4th time, it must be devastating to cope and preparing to re-write.

Was your score close to passing? Did you have a tutor / study group prior to write the exam? Tried to think ways that may could work for your next writing time
