UCSD New Grad (FMCC/NICU/Perinatal Program) 2013

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi, everyone! I am starting this thread to see if anyone out there has applied to- and possibly interviewed with- UCSD earlier in November for their new grad perinatal program (or for another program if you would like to share too). I applied and had an interview earlier this week and am trying my best to wait patiently, but knowing I'm not waiting alone would be nice :)

Has anyone heard anything?

Does anyone know how this program works after the 2 year commitment/training? Like, are we going to be permanent employees after the 2 years or would we have to apply for actual positions in the specific unit we want?

Hi Everyone! I was wondering if anyone is from somewhere outside of SD? I would be moving down from the bay area so I was interested in seeing if anyone needed a roommate or would be apartment hunting down in SD?

Thanks! :)

I received a job offer in december through email by the nicu manager but they said it'll take time because they're awaiting to get approval of additional positions to the job, theyre still going through the process but it's so difficult just waiting to hear back :( i was wondering if you're on the same boat.If I hear back from them then I will be looking for a place in sd too :)

Have you heard anything from them? She said that everything would hopefully be in place by Monday (1/7) when the director comes back from her break, but I still haven't gotten anything yet :\

yup i'm in the same boat! i think she said they'll meet again 1/14 and hopefully have an answer. hope we hear soon :)

Those who got an interview and/or position offer:

I was wondering if you could share some background info (GPA, experience, where you precepted, CA resident?, etc...) Anything else that may be helpful (what unit you got an offer on). I am graduating in May from a BSN program (out of state and I am not a CA resident), but I am thinking about applying for the next round.

Jylo- was wondering if you're still looking for a roommate

hi daisy36! i just got a townhouse in hillcrest and if you can't find somethign quick enough you are welcome to stay a couple of days until you do! did you get the official offer yet?

I applied for the recent new grad program in the Perinatal loop (there were actually 2 different ones this time) and am unable to find a thread for this particular app cycle. I have an interview next Friday and am VERY excited. This is really my ideal job and I'd be so happy to get a chance to work there.

Anyway, I was hoping I might be able to get some pointers from those who interviewed last time around- what types of questions did they ask? In the interviews I've had so far, it's been mostly behavioral- i.e. tell me about a time you used the nursing process with a patient or what would you do if you had a conflict with a coworker. I have not been asked any clinical questions yet, but does UCSD ask those types of questions?

Any advice/ input is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi rainingeleven! I hope your interview went well!! I have an interview next week as well. I was wondering if you had a panel interview and how many people were on the panel? How was the experience overall? Hope it was a great experience and good luck with landing the job!!
