Saw this for a NICU thread and thought I should follow suit b/c it was a good idea. I hope all of us regular allnurses.com PICU interviewees get hired! Good luck everybody

@Wnurses mine is on Fri. How about yours? When I went to interview there were about 3 ahead of me for PICU. Not sure how many went after me though...

Just an update- I interviewed today and I asked how many they were planning on hiring and they said they weren't even sure! But they have already contacted a few applicants back to tour the unit this week and meet some of the nurses on the floor.

Thats me lol....i'm going this week to tour the unit and meet the nurses...did they give any other info? I'm happy you got an interview! I'll be crossing my fingers for you :)

@cocjnel - yes!! What time is your interview? Mine is kinda late on Friday...not sure if that is a good or bad thing. Also, have you seen the unit yet? I think your first interview was the same day as mine.

According to the email, I will go this friday in the afternoon for "staff interveiews as well as a tour of the unit. This will allow for you to not only interact with the staff but to get a feel for the environment you may be working in."....I have not been officially offered a position though. I wonder if the second is a group tour or individual??

I interviewed on the 16th, then received an email the next day saying that i made it to second rounds. I then got an email from the assistant unit director saying the above and asking me to confirm my availability for the second interview. I'm still very nervous and don't want to get my hopes up. I've had a rotation in PICU already. I hope we all do well.

@jesusgal1023 - I had my first interview on the 24th (a Tuesday) and I received an email regarding the second interview on Friday. I think the second interviews are individual...mine isn't until 4:30pm. I'm slightly terrified b/c my externship was in NICU so my PICU experience is very limited. I'm going to review some nursing notes this week. Not really sure what to expect. Did you interview in the unit or in an HR office?

**I just re-read my email and it said the same as yours. Were you interviewed by the UD or assistant UD's for your first interview? I was interviewed by the CNS (she was great!).

Mine is on friday as well at 4pm. I haven't seen the unit yet and no additional information was given to me during my initial interview. I received the same exact email. I'm nervous too and have no idea what to expect either... regardless whether we have experience in the PICU or not I'd like to think they saw something in us to want us to come back right?? ah! I hope we all do extremely well and take a liking in us and we all end up working together!

My interview was with both the UD and assistant UD. I just wonder if the staff interviews means that the staff will be asking us questions like the formal interview, or if it is informal to see if we "mesh" with the current staff. A friend of mine brought up an interesting point though; time is money. so it is probably costly to have each of us come back to do staff interviews and tours. They probably wouldn't waste their time doing that unless they were very serious about hiring us. I don't know if that is ture, or if she was trying to make me feel less nervous....it did make me feel a little better though.

I live close to LA but went to nursing school in San Diego. You can try The Grove and do some shopping while you wait. There's also a farmer's market near there :-)
