U.S.A. California

Hey guys, just thought I'd create our own thread so it'll be easier for us to communicate with each other without having to read through all the updates on the other units. Good luck to us all!

Do any of the NTICU candidates on this forum have experience in the NTICU? Just trying to formulate what she will be talking with us next interview about? what types of behavior questions are you going through? Not familiar with that kind of interview.

I've never actually been on a NTICU :/ At most I've had rotations in other neuro units, but not intensive care.

my preceptorship was on a general step-down care unit, but that is about it. so i'm nervous about how we stand out against the experienced nurses. i'm not sure about situational, but i'm pretty sure behavioral questions. its really up to the manager's style. i heard in an L&D interview at UCLA they asked a person to give a shift report. so i'm just trying to be prepared for whatever's happening.

as for behavioral qs. all i do know for sure is the john hopkins guide for new grad RNs really helps, especially in asking questions to the manager.

Thanks, I forgot about the John Hopkins guide - I have it saved on my laptop - better get to dusting it off and refreshing (since I forgot about it) =) Good luck!

Did everyone hear back from the manager for the second interview?

It's actually on Monday! :) I hope she doesn't make us wait too long for her decisions.

Amen to that! When I first talked to her, she seemed to think she would have decisions made by the first week of May, but I am guessing that the delay in getting 2nd interviews scheduled has put that plan out a bit........knowing by the end of next week would be awesome!

my interview is coming up. how is everyone preparing for theirs?

practicing behavior questions? reading over neuro and meds? researching the hospital more and the unit?

anyways good luck everyone =) i hope you all were able to schedule your second interview already.

Good luck! I haven't done much to prepare and don't really know what to do. I think she just wants more time to get a feel for us since the 20 minute interviews weren't enough time. It doesn't hurt to do a little homework before. But be calm and be yourself :)
