UCLA New Grad Summer 2012 for NeuroTrauma ICU

Published

Hey guys, just thought I'd create our own thread so it'll be easier for us to communicate with each other without having to read through all the updates on the other units. Good luck to us all!

got an email today for 2nd interview on wednesday. ahhhh! soo nervous. oh maan. i really wish those 10 spots were just for new grads. =/ it means we have to try even harder to stand out against them.

Good luck everyone!

Was your interview today? How did it go? Any pointers to consider?

yes it was.

i felt that it went horrible. you try to be prepared and then suddenly in the moment you feel unprepared and stumble. thats how i felt.

but i survived! haha

anyways pointers:

BE YOURSELF! i know we're all nervous a job is riding on this interview, but breathe in confidence and breathe out nervousness. and just remember to be yourself.

the interview is about personality and if you will fit well with the unit and the kind of person the UD is looking for.

so be confident. and be yourself.

and don't forget your list of questions to ask. i tried to ask how many new grads she's planning to hire, and was told there were 10 spots total for new grads and exp. m/s

this is what i've been telling myself all day.

if it doesn't work out, it wasn't meant to be, means it wasn't the unit/hospital for me to thrive in. be yourself

so goodluck! and remember we were one of the few to make it this far! that's an accomplishment in itself =)

Thank you for sharing & wish you the best :)

Bayareastudent: when you were interviewed, was it only the UD who interviewed you or was there more than one person? Assistant director or CNS or something like that?? It wasn't like a panel interview was it?

no panel, just the UD.

I have heard other units have a second interview that were panel (UD + assistant director/cns/educator)

but from the previous cohorts, I haven't read that this particular unit does panel interviews on the second round.

Oh ok, that's nice to know! Thank you so much!! :) Although just the UD herself is pretty intimidating... haha

It's actually on Monday! :) I hope she doesn't make us wait too long for her decisions.

good luck to you!!! sending my good vibes your way!

Thanks to you all! I had my second interview with her today. It felt like the first interview, just a few more "get to know you" questions. So don't bother reading over your patho or pharm, none of that stuff was asked. After her questions, she tells you about the new grad program and gives you a tour of the unit. She said that we'd hear back in about 2-3 weeks, most likely 2 weeks.

It wasn't too bad. I felt like she was just trying to get a better feel of what we're like and how she thinks we'd fit in with the unit. Don't be nervous! It really wasn't that horrible.

Good luck to you all! :)
