Hey everyone- I thought it was time to start a new thread for the up and coming applicant pool for the ELMSN Sacramento cohort 2011. Five months until applications are due and it doesn't hurt to start communicating with one another already. I met with the admissions counselor last week and she gave me many pointers on how to strengthen my application. Can't wait to hear from some others out there who will be in it with me for the remainder of the year hoping to get into SMU.

I'm getting ready to apply this July. I still need to take my TEAS tho. I am also going to apply for the ABSN. Do you think it looks bad to apply to both programs?

I think it's better to apply to both. Some people will apply to the bachelors already knowing they will go on further. Might as well apply to both and they will place you based on where they think you'll fit well.

Ya, your right. Have you applied anywhere else ?

Thanks for starting this post, it's good to hear from other who are also applying.

Yes, Woodland, Solano, Sac City, American River and Sierra (all for ADN programs). No problem I am a "repeat" from last year so I have been through this before. I just hope it goes my way this time, because I don't want to sit around and wait any longer. How about you? Are you currently taking prerequisites?

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I didn't get any notifications.

This will be my first time applying. Well, that's not true i applied at Sac City too. I am currently taking patho in woodland and pharm at SCC. I am trying to start my personal statement but I'm kind of stumped.

Do you know when the next infomation session is, I tried to look on their website but could not find any info.

I am planning on applying to the ABSN in Sacramento and hopefully the New UC Davis BSN program when it comes out. The inaugural class always gets financial aid, which I will need because I only plan on bartending on the weekends!!! ;). Good luck on the TEAS, I just took it yesterday!

Do you know when the UC Davis program comes out?? How was the TEAS? Any tips for preparing? ...sorry for all the questions...:)

Hi All!

I have already submitted my application to SMU both ABSN and FNP. I read the thread for last year's and i'm nervous. I also hated!!!! the NursingCAS program! It does not let you submit 2 statements, I hope they let you send other information after the fact! I think a lot of people had a hard time with this new program. I was wondering if anyone knew if they would allow the applications to count if CAS didn't give it to them before 7/1? I emailed Liza about this as a concern of mine, among many others, and I have not heard back yet.

Applications are due to CAS on July 1st. From there it can take CAS up to six weeks to get them to SMU. I think it will go faster than that, but they give themselves that amount of time just in case. From there SMU will see what they have and figure out who is in, who is waitlisted and who is not even an option. For ELSMN we should be hearing about interviews in early August so you will have an idea by mid August if you made the cut for interviews. As for ABSN, it takes a little longer to find out because they don't interview. I think last year we knew who got in and who was waitlisted for ABSN by middle of October. It's a long torturous wait and hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones who gets accepted right away and doesn't have to wait. I don't look forward to going through it all over again. And I am with you that the Nursing CAS application was not fun. Good luck!

Hi ilnurse,

I am also apply for both absn and elmsn. I'm curious which one you wrote about on personal statement. I'm having a hard time keeping it general.

I'm kinda freaking out, it wouldn't let me submit different personal statements or change things to update my application. I need to find out the address to send additional information. I'm currently an intern for 2 FNPs at a local clinic here in Illinois. I need to give them time to write about my clinical experience and then send it in on my behalf. I love my volunteer work and I can't wait to get a ton more hours of experience. My FNPs are why I want to get into this program. What about you?
