Samuel Merritt BSN program waiting list

U.S.A. California

Published

:monkeydance: I got into the waiting list for the BSN Fall 07. Is anybody else in same shoes?

Do you know how many people from the waiting list usually get in?

How many total spaces are in the program?

Did somebody graduate from there?

Any feedback would be appreciated :uhoh3:

Thanx

I will be applying for SMC's Oakland ABSN to start May 2008. Does anyone know when they tell applicants if they're accepted? The applications are due in November.

Specializes in L&D, OR, postpartum, pedi, OBGYN clinic.

I am in the current 2008 SF ABSN class. They tell you around March 1st when you are getting in. Admin is slow and messy but it all works out eventually. Teachers are good, classes are fast, don't do it if you think of half assing it. In clinicals now and having fun. umm...can't think of anything more. Good luck!

Oakland is the most competitive. If you want a shoe in spot apply to Pennisula or even SF. They aren't even full for our class.

Specializes in labor and delivery.

If you are willing to go to another campus-like the new peninsula campus, your chances of getting in are even higher.

blkgrlwwings-I was in your winter break stats class, I've lost your number, I started SMC's program 5 days ago, I am loving it! The admin stuff is pretty confusing-but school is fun. The reason I chose SMC was because it takes a year-I need to go to work asap. Also, I really want to work in the Bay Area and I'm hoping where I do my preceptorship will offer me a job. Though it's expensive for one year, if I had to take off two years, it would cost me more than the tuition. Call me anytime!

Hi everyone, is this the correct thread for the SMC ABSN applicants? Well if so, hello again. Did anyone apply in March 1st for the 2007 Fall term in San Francisco? I applied and I am on the waitlist. . . I was just wondering how full the SF classes were and how many they accept each year? My number on the waitlist is not that great, but im hoping somehow some people might change their minds about the SMC program and make room for me.

Congratulations to any of you who have already been offered an acceptance letter from

SMC. . i know we ALL are very anxious to start our careers. :balloons:

Specializes in ED, Cardiac-step down, tele, med surg.

I don't know how impacted the program is. I've heard that they get about 200 applications for about 50 spots, but they have different campus locations, so I was under the impression that they could give someone a spot at a different location. I'm not quite so sure though. I hope that you get in though. I imagine some people will decide not to go. Take care and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you,

J

Jzzy88 THanks for your reply. Congratulations on getting in, will you be attending smc in the fall? if so i hope i get a call from lizzy mayo saying that i got in, and then we can start are meticulous journey together along with the other classmates. ill keep you posted.

by the way, was san francisco your first choice? i figured that since the March 1st deadline app for san francisco was only for san francisco, i might have only put san francisco, and possibly the peninsula as my choices.

again, thanks and hope you do keep your fingers crossed for me

I only applied for S.F. because I live in the city and thought it would be the easiest to get to. I've heard that the Oakland location is the best though because of the access to the main campus. Again, good luck and I hope you get in! Take care,

Hi everyone,

I will be starting the ELMSN-FNP at SMC this Fall, and I had also been accepted into the ABSN program. ... So blkgrlwithwings, are you going to be be starting the ABSN, for sure?

Hey BerkeleyMom! Are you doing the ELMSN for sure? Why did you choose that over the ABSN? I'm now thinking about applying to the ELMSN...

Specializes in Medical/Legal.

My friend's daughter in law graduated from Samuel Merrit last May and according to her, the cost of the program is closer to $70,000. She took her NCLEX last 6/25 and passed. She's now working 12 hours in L&D at a local hospital.

Specializes in Womens health, labor and delivery.

Just my two cents, but I graduated in May from the ABSN program and I agree. It is much closer to 70,000.00. By the way, did she graduate 2006, or 2007. I am looking for an L&D job, and as a new grad would appreciate any information available.

(I personally think it the program was worth it, but that is up to each person.)
