Sac State Fall 2013 Applicants

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am about to send in my application to CSU Sacramento for Fall 13 and was wondering if there are any other people in the same predicament. Would love love to hear your experiences as well.

Nurseinthemaking20: I'm sure you'll be fine! :) I hope you get that automatic in!

I think the only way you would get declined is if you didn't compete all pre reqs or failed to submit correct documentation as Nurseinthemaking said. I think we will all be fine. :-)

A few more days my friends....

Hi guys! I started the program in Fall 2012, so I just wanted to share how my admissions experience went!

So, I had the exact same point value as the "cut-off" that was stated in the email, but was still Alternate #8. (If it hasn't changed, since they immediately admit the first 75-ranked applicants, applicant 76 became Alternate #1, so in essence, I was #83). I figure it was because quite a few people had the same point value as I did, and I didn't know how they differentiated in case of a tie. I didn't have any of the supplemental points, because I'd never worked in a hospital, couldn't qualify for the low income status, and my foreign language in high school was French, which wasn't one of the desire languages (I speak another language at home, but I didn't live in the area and couldn't come to take an exam for it).

That being said, I felt pretty sure that I was going to get in as an alternate - the initial decision that I was an alternate came out 11/28, and I got my "Congratulations, You're in! Here's all the crud you need to get done!" email on 12/16. So - don't get too discouraged if you're chosen as an alternate, especially if you're high up on the list.

If you guys get your admissions decisions before Friday, you should totally come to the CNSA meeting on Friday and get a feel for the people and the program - a representative from each class always updates everyone on what each class is doing, so you'll get tons of good info, and you can meet folks and ask questions!

Vickymarie- thanks for sharing. I guess that means I'm going to be an alternate after all. I may have to wait up to a month to get my acceptance.

Nurseinthemaking20: you don't know that yet, you could be the one that is accepted. Keep positive!! Do not get discouraged.

Mommato3crazies- yes that could very well be true. And I was going through the old forum for fall 2012 and when they got their second update email, it mentioned that they were only offering 75 spots first until the 7 day review period and then they let the next 5 in. Their email told them applicant 75 has 69 points and applicant 80 has 68 points. But our email said nothing like that, it just said applicant 80 has 75 points. So that could mean they are going to send out 80 acceptance letters initially. So that could me I'm in.

Sigh. I am stressing over this way too much!

Just have faith. We all will be holding our breath until Wednesday. No matter what, you are going to be in the program. I know it may not seem ideal to be wait listed, but at least you are going to be in!

I understand your frustration because I would be extremely anxious as well. With that being said, have a glass of wine, say a prayer, and what will be, will be!

I really believe you are in. ;-)

Thank you so much for being so encouraging. You are right, I am in either way. Plus even if I am wait listed I have 75 points, that means I am still in the top 80. I am going to a BBQ this afternoon, so hopefully I can enjoy some good food and good company and relax.

Ahh, why does the process take so long!

Yes! It does take so long!!

Nurseinthemaking20: yes, just relax and enjoy your weekend!!

Thank you I will try. Then again it's so hard to enjoy any weekend when Saturdays are my only days off from school and work and my job is always trying to call me in to work. They just called me this morning asking me to come in. They are always ruining my plans of relaxation. I guess I'm really going to have to quit my jobs when I start the program!

Definitely should consider working as little as possible while in the program.
