Los Angeles County College of Nursing & Allied Health Spring 2014 Applicants

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello! I decided to open up this new thread for those applying for Spring 2014 entry at LA County College of Nursing. I recently took my TEAS for the first time, and I'm so relieved that it is over! Now the wait... A bit nervous about the whole process, but I am very hopeful. Anyway, just wondering who else out there has applied!

Hi All, I applied for Fall 2014. I am currently working as an LVN but chose to do the 2 year instead because of the school I went to for my LVN, I didn't get the best clinicals and feel I can be better prepared as a Nurse this route. I only applied to LAC and ELAC because I have to clean up my transcripts to raise my G.P.A. up some via course repetition and academic renewal for the schools that use the multi-criteria screening. I believe I have about 81/82 points, if i pass the TEAS and get the 20 points...so hopefully that is enough. If not, that's fine too because i'll get the bonus point for not getting in a previous semester and work experience the next time around.

Good Luck! I guess I an waiting to take the TEAS as well :):nurse:

Has anyone applied to the LVN-RN that starts this summer? I have and am a little bit worried about not being prepared to enter into the 3rd semester at county. :nailbiting: Just wondering if anyone else is in my shoes.

Just wanted to drop a line and say welcome to those that got in! You're in for one hell of a ride. :)

The semester just ended today. Cannot even believe we have to be back in 3 weeks but oh well. You'll all be there and I'm sure I will work with some of you since you will be in 1st semester and I'll be in 4th. Good luck everyone!

Hello willowita,

Thank you for your posts, they are very informative! I have a question regarding LVNs who came into your 3rd semester. I was wondering how you felt they did, were some better prepared than others and did it seem they were prepared enough to enter the county program in the 3rd semester. The reason I ask is because I have my LVN license and have some worries that perhaps I might not be prepared for it being that county is so hard. Any info would be great! Thank you!

so is it just a year for LVN-RN program? is it easier to get in the program with an LVN license or just the same for those starting with generic entry?

Hey lovemy3boys and girl :)

You should send pm willowita, during the semester, she isn't really on AN. She may check her messages though :)

Let me say this look into programs that offer LVN-BSN. Loma Linda is one of them.

I am a Count Grad and from what I heard not that many of the LVNs fel they were prepared for the county program. Many said their lvn educations was poor and their clinical did not prepared them for clinicals at county. Most of the lvns worked as LVNs and still many dropped and some took the semester off. You won't get the clinical experience anywhere else so if you are up for the challenge choose county.

Yes, LVN-RN is just one year in any community college. If you are planning on going for your RN DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY GOING INTO LVN-->ADN-->BSN. Just go for your BSN and don't spend $120,000+ for a BSN plzzzz. I got my ADN for less $10,000 and getting my BSN for less then $9000!

Best wishes and if I can help in any way please feel free to email at [email protected]

Hi guys!! I have applied for the Spring 2015 entrance and was reading this thread. Since all of you were in my shoes this time last year (anxious and impatient), has LA county lived up to your expectations of a really great program?

Hello righteousjenn . I also applied for spring 2015 and I am beyond anxious to hear back from them. Do you know if we will hear back from them in November or will our suffering be prolonged until December? :nailbiting:
