Hello, I will be beginning nursing school at LATTC in the fall. Just inquiring on what to expect during the first semester? How many days per week did you attend class? Will it be possible for me to work part time? Whatever info you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Hey congrats. I just finished 1st sem, when we started I was working 5 days a week but that quickly ended. It was extremely difficult to work 40 hours a week, study and make it to class 5 days a week....yup class is M-F full time. I had to cut my work schedule to 26 to 30 hours weekly and then it was doable. The teachers are great, -------------- is a wonderful fun teacher who will help you all she can if you ask. Your class will also be getting a new Pharm teacher, ------------------ who was previews pharm teacher is now the director of the nursing program. Best advise i can give you is be organized with your time and material and study the slides they give you, test are direct for the lectures and slides. The material is not hard, just a lot of it in a short amount of time.

Thanks so much for your response.. I'm so excited about beginning in the fall but just didn't know what to expect. I will definitely take into consideration your advice on staying organized and what to study for on exams. That was very helpful! :) How is the schedule for most classes? Are they all day?

Class was M -8-3(Parm and Nursing Process), T-7-2(Clinical) W-7-2(Clinical) TH-8-12(Fundamentals) F-3 hours(Simulation lab) , can be anytime from 7 to 5. If you get a 12 hour clinical site then you would go 7 to 7 and no class on wed.

Thanks so much for the info..

Hey theone40,

any advise of what rn119 is all about? What was the hardest subject for you? I'm glad that you finished the 1st semester. Thanks for the tips!?

@blemus81,

I'm not sure how RN119 will be for your class, instructor has changed. RN119 from what I remember was pretty much nursing history and ethics .... Can't remember much of the class but it was ok...again test were from slides.....the whole semester is pretty challenging ......you have to keep up if you fall behind you most likely will not make to the second 8 weeks of 1st semester. It's no joke and every point counts....

Hi Theone!

Can you elaborate on what to expect at simulation lab? Also, how often do you go to the sim lab?
