Just got 2 speeding tickets ;(-- Will my lic be delayed ?

U.S.A. California

Hi,

I need some advise... I just got 2 speeding tickets.. one in March and the other in June.. If I don't make it to school on time I get sent home... I messed up and now I have 2 speeding tickets.. I have one more semester to go (LVN) .. Has anyone out there gone through this?? 2 speeding tickets? I can do traffic school for one, do I still need to report that one? PLEASE HELP!!! I can't believe this just happened.. so sad and now I am scared.

Can my lic be delayed because of this?

Can I be denied my LVN?

... any advise? Thanks for your help...

I know someone in CA who did not receive their LVN license at all over a moving violation. They had to go back and forth to get verification that it had been paid and the last thing they were told by the VN Board was that their application had been canned. I highly suggest that you pay these fines immediately and keep immaculate records of your transactions. And do not delay in answering the Board should this turn into a problem. Best wishes.

If I don't make it to school on time I get sent home...

So leaving your house earlier is not a less costly option?

You speed, you get pulled over, the police officer holds you up (making you late anyway) while writing the citation, and now you're probably obligated to pay hundreds of dollars. Leaving the house earlier seems less costly in many ways.

I go to school after work and sometimes I have don't have enough time to get there... ;/ my luck...

I have never gotten a speeding ticket until now.. nothing else on my driving record. Of course if I leave from home I can leave earlier.. unfortunatley, leaving from work -- I have no control.. thanks for your comment!

thanks ;( I am going to pay for it.. they are both due this month...

June 2011? I would guess by now if you haven't done anything since then you may have a warrant attached to your license, failure to appear and possibly a suspension and 30 bazillion dollars in fines. If you mean you already took care of that one with traffic school I'd suggest more attention to clarity in your written communications.

Otherwise, do as Cali suggested right away.

Nursel56-- So sorry, I meant March of this year and May .. both due in June. I know what I need to do - obviously, I need to make it late if work does not allow me to leave earlier and hope my instructor is in a good mood and won't send me home for being 1 minute late-- that's how understanding she is... I don't know what I was thinking when I decided to go to school when working full time, it's so hard and stressfull, I will be done in a couple of months and now I get these speeding tickets... so sad because now I am stressing on getting my lic, I probably did all this schooling for nothing? I just want to know if anyone has gone through this .. I am just looking for hope.. I can't go back in time -- I wish..

By the way.... I am doing traffic school for one but I have the other one that I can jus pay for...

My instructors were rabid about start times. Your school probably has some kind of blank number of late arrivals and you're out the door no questions asked.

I really do know the dilemma you're facing with work and school. All your hard work could be for nothing if you aren't in the program anymore. You must figure out a way not to take the risk. Honestly, I'm not trying to be harsh, but the stakes are too high to leave it to such random factors as what kind of mood your instructor is in. Work something out with your school or work to give you a bit of peace of mind.

Best wishes to you.

1. Pay these tickets ASAP.

2. Find a way to leave earlier for school.

3. Contact the BVN (you can e-mail them anonymously) to ask if you have to report either/both of these tickets. I'm not sure how it works in CA (and yet I live here!) but when I first applied for my license in another state, I didn't have to report my speeding ticket as long as it wasn't a misdemeanor or felony.

4. Consider enrolling in a safe driver course/traffic school for both tickets...reasons: it could help reduce points on your license, help minimize any increases in your auto insurance due to this, and it would show the BVN that you are taking responsibility and trying to learn from this, should the tickets have to be reported.

Best of luck.

Thanks Meriwhen!!! I am doing traffic school for one and the other I can't because I would have to wait 1 1/2 yrs... but, you are right .. they are infraction, not even a misdemeanor.. maybe I only have to report the one I can't do traffic school for?? I hope ;/ I will email them, didn't know I could do that!!! thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!! I just don't want the delay because I already have a job waiting for me..

Try to get your employer to allow you to leave 20 minutes early, offer to come in 20 minutes early. I am sorry, but I worked throughout nursing school and I found that the instructors and administration of my school used my job, as well as any other personal responsibilities, as a reason to treat me harshly. They warn you in the beginning about working or having personal problems, then they follow through. You have to deal the best you can. Don't allow these tickets to cause you to miss out on, or delay your license. I can assure you that the Board will sit on your application until you resolve the issue, and they will dispose of your application packet if it takes too long for you to deal with it.
