Everest College Ontario RN program

U.S.A. California

Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I have not received a phone call yet.

Though, I wonder, how easy or hard it will be to transfer everest units over to a state school for a B.S. degree.

Specializes in none yet.

Even though I have not been called back yet since my interview... I am reconsidering my options, unfortunately. I live sooo close by to this school, (like 20 minutes) but with the living situation that I am in having only one car for a family of 5, a preschooler, a working husband AND current student, myself trying to enter school, and two little ones under 3.... there is no way that I can drive or find a ride all the way to apple valley and also be gone for 14 hours max. :crying2: as much as I want this opportunity, I am forced to not continue with it. Nursing is my dream...but I think its too soon to pursue it and start with something a bit slower and less requirements such as driving distance to the clinicals and the length of time @ the clinicals. :hug:Thank you to those who replied on my previous post, thank u for ur support!!! And I wish you all the best, and hope that eventually when I become a nurse I will see some of you our work place.:)

Had my financial aid meeting today, and.....I'm "complete"! My credit is awful so private loans weren't an option and I'm maxed out from gov't loans from my last school, but I was fortunate enough to have my parents with me to put a deposit down. They preferred to pay monthly for me in lieu of cosigning (that's how bad my financial past is). I've tried so hard to not get too excited, but now that's it actually happened, I'M FREAKING OUT! My life changed tonight...for good.

Sooo, we took the cash option: they took the tuition price, less the deposit, for the first 9 months and divided it over 12 months. At month 10, they "re-pack" and whatever remains from the 12 month payment plan gets carried over/added to the next 9 months. You also have the option to add any amount to avoid that carry over. I think I might've confused myself with this explanation, so I apologize...I tried :D

It's a race to the finish line, so my piece of advice (as someone mentioned earlier)...bring your cosigners, everything applicable from the financial aid preparation sheet, and take the first available appointment! Don't let "next week" be an option. Also, they don't accept credit or debit/ATM cards there. We had to go home and get the ol' checkbook and return.

Good luck everyone! I'm going to go to bed and stare at the ceiling now...I know I won't be able to sleep.

Congrats, kimoleka :yeah:

Wooo, so I finally got called today for my F.A. interview. Any suggestions?!

Congrats man! When is your financial aid appointment?

Also, did you guys turn in letter of recommendations? I completely forgot and had one in hand and just e-mailed Rachel about it. Can't help but feel that I'm at a disadvantage with them storing my old interview on file, but hopefully she'll still allow me to come in and turn mine in.

congrats kimoleka!!!!!!!!! so excited to be starting with you. we should meet up at orientation. my f.a. situation was very similar to yours, bad credit, parents wouldnt cosign but i got a ton of grants and with the stafford loans ill be having a monthly cash payment too. itll be tough but sooo worth it in the end :)

emt, woo hoo! be prepared with ur fafsa info and any possible cosigners. if u hve good credit things should be a lot easier for u than me but still be prepared just in case. they do offer monthly cash payments as a sorta last resort, and thank god for that option! the price of it will become reality at the appt so just dont get overwhelmed because its all worth it in the future. good luck and i look forward to meeting with you!

mizzhernandez, i am sorry to hear of your decision. it would be tough to go through the program in a situation such as yours, but remember its only 2 years and the payoff is something you would never regret. best of luck to you in all your future endeavors

Long, yes i did have a letter of recommendation from a strong source. i really feel it did help me out as it sets u apart just a bit. im sure rachel will still accept and consider it, as they are still interviewing.

So I went back a few pages and did a tally chart of who all were pre-selected for the financial aid process:

jmira

emt_anderson

dexandmon

daguirre3 + her friend

kimoleka

JesusIsGod

Congrats again to all you guys. :D I ask that you guys keep your prayers for the rest of us (there's a few) with our phone calls. I feel like having a heart attack when another member checks in regarding their phone call. And thank you jmira, I'm waiting for a reply back before I rush over there with my letter of recommendations. Hehe.

Hang in there Long, I pulling for you man. My appointment is on the 4th. I turned in a handful of letters of recomendations ranging from co-workers, to instructers, patients i've had.

Dont get me wrong emt, im so happy for you....but im honestly feeling forgotten here! still havent gotten a call, and if i remember right i interviewed a couple weeks before you...but lets face it nothing they do seems to be in an orderly fashion! haha... but congrats:) although i dont know all of you on this thread...i feel like we're all friends! feeling pretty down and trying to figure out whats taking so long...i scored high, nailed the essay, and i feel 100% about my interview. hey, does anyone know if they are open tomorrow on christmas eve? that way i can hope for a call tomorrow...warm wishes and happy holidays friends:)
