Anyone taking courses here at Delta?

And also remember you can take online courses at any community college in California. That's how I got a few prereqs done. Graduated the program in December and just took my NCLEX today....feeling rather ill at the moment. Need the results, one way or the other, now!!!!!!!!

Thanks, I'm taking a medical microbiology right now, and I didn't even think about taking an online class from another community college! Are there any that have particularly good online programs, or ones that have lots of online students that aren't near the campus?

I don't know about any with particularly good online programs...I took a few courses through Las Positas and Chabot. I know American River in sac has a good selection, Modesto Jr. College...lots...really, you just have to check out all the schools until you find the course you need.

To find out if credits are transferable go to assist.org. There you can put in the school you are taking a course in and the school you want to transfer it to and it will let you know if it is transferable.

Specializes in NICU, Telephone Triage.

Hi. I graduated from Delta in 1989 with my ADN... wow I'm feeling old, esp. since I don't recognize ANY of the teacher's names you mentioned. I liked going to school there, it was close to home and I feel I received a good education. The clinicals were especially challenging...I know I got a lot of experience with patients before graduating.

Good luck!

Hi Kimbalou. I had Costa for anatomy this last semester, and I thought he had been at Delta since the early 80s. Did you stay in the area after graduating? I heard that almost all of the nurses around San Joaquin county graduated from Delta.

how hard was costa for anatomy?

O and go to www.professor.com and look up Delta and the ratings on the instructors..you'll see for yourself, Best wishes.

yeah, I've heard the horror stories...

I heard Costa is tricky... so does this mean an 'A' is do-able in his anatomy class?

well what part of the year are you planning, he teaches all semester in spring & fall but in the summer, he does half the summer and the other half is with someone called Parks and he is very hard. he don't teach out the book at all and all his lectures are oral and you have to try to keep up...very difficult

registered for Costa for Spring 2008, he be doing both lecture & lab - just not sure what 2 expect... any tips?

Oh wow lucky you! Hes a great great guy, very approachable too. I thin he is 100% fair and his grading is amazing, it is not 90-100 an A it is more like an 85-100 an A he curves it. His bone & muscles tests are challenging but do-able..I said, do everything he asks, listen carefully. Try to get a front row seat since he talks in a low tone and in lecture sit up front also, he makes anatomy come to life! I think you'll really like him!

Costa was pretty easy for anatomy, or at least as easy as any of the anatomy teachers at Delta can be. His tests can be a little tricky, so just make sure you go over the test a couple of times when you're finished. I actually had Mr. Parks for the lab, and his lab was harder than Costa's. Parks actually took time at the beginning of the dissection to show us what to look for and was there to help us find it. I had friends in Costa's lab who said he basically told them to get out the cats and then wandered off. I ended up getting an A so its definitely doable.

As far as the other classes, I took medical micro with Acquistapace over the summer, very crunched time wise, I'd suggest taking it during the regular year, but she was a very good friendly teacher. Right now I've got Adamson for physio. The class has dropped in size quite a bit, and the class is tough, but I've heard horror stories about the other physio teachers, hehe.
