Cypress college RN program

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi just wanted to see if anyone has applied to the RN program at cypress. Maybe we can talk with each other as we sit and wait for a decision. I just applied Sept 1st and am turning in docs tomorrow. We gotta stick together ladies!:yeah:

ChristineLVN2RN info for you the accreditation matters when you transfer for your BSN if your choices are a non accredited school or accredited go with accredited. Why look back later after all your hard work and not be able to or have a difficult time in moving forward because of it.

Just to clarify this for anyone concerned, there are different types of accreditation. WASC is what matters when transferring credits to your BSN not NLNAC. I received this response from Cal State Long Beach, CSUF and Azusa Pacific (a private school). These are California schools so you might want to check for schools outside of California.

how long is the average waitlist in cypress??? and do they go by order or points or lottery??? thanks. also is it hard to get into the program in cypress??

No wait list. They go by points. Yes it's hard like most community college ADN programs in So Cal. Either you're lucky to hit the lottery, or for those that go by points, you need to have good grades. Health care experience is a plus. A degree also helps. I would recommend applying to at least 5 schools. Good luck!

I can't answer that for you. You would need to apply to find out and it would depend on who your competition is. Here is a link to their point system and how many points you get for each category. Obviously the more points the higher your chances are.

Have you been on their page? I would suggest looking at their website and reading the information on there. I believe there are certain steps you must take to apply like going to an information session. I'm sure plenty of your questions can be asked there. Good luck.

dsong1714 hi Cypress actually does have a chronological wait list that is about 4years long that only comes into play if you have less than perfect GPA and 30 points total people have gotten in with less than 30 but the minimum last I heard was 28. I had a 4.0 and 30 points got in right away. The issue has been that more and more people are coming up with 30 points. The other school that are lottery system just weren't appealing to me because I didn't want my name in a hat with others that have a C average let's say. Now with 30 points you obviously would have A's is your prereqs and will either get in spring or fall at the latest. I have never heard of anyone with max points waiting longer than that. I agree go talk to the counselor at cypress. Good luck hope to see you at Cypress it's a great school

You're right. It actually says that in the link I provided. For some reason I thought it was no wait list but I probably was thinking of another school.

Yeah jeli42 they all start to blend I'm sure after awhile.

YES!!! 3rd semester done that was challenging but really learned a lot. I can't believe I'm going into my 4th semester at Cypress. It feels like it just started yesterday. So did advanced Med Surg, Psych and Gero this semester and I have to say it's so important to keep your eyes on the finish line never think oh I've got this. There's always something new coming around the corner. This semester concepts really came together and I felt more like a nurse than ever before.

I agree, everyday I feel I am getting closer to being a nurse, and it is a two year learning process and we have got to keep our eyes on the finish line.

Te1990na everyday you are getting closer so proud of you.

Just applied to cypress earlier in the month... how long does it take for acceptance letters to be sent out? The final application period closed around 9/14/13.
