CSULB EL-MSN Fall 2010 Applicants

U.S.A. California

Hello,

The application for CSULB EL-MSN Fall 2010 is due Friday April 2nd! Get your stuff in! Has anybody that has submitted already, gotten a confirmation back or heard anything. I submitted the first week in March and nothing for me yet. I hear there will be an interview for the first time this year. Goodluck everyone!! I got impatient waiting for someone to start a thread for us applicants...so I just did it :)

Oh man, thanks for letting us know. June/July is a long time to wait.

Thanks @strugz and @HereAndLater that info is really helpful! I wasn't able to attend any info sessions unfortunately so I've missed a lot of important stuff...one more question (I think!)...does anyone know our first day of class? I'm trying to figure out when I need to quit my job by! Thanks again! I am looking forward to meeting you all next month :)

Believe it's August 30th.

Anyone have any idea what classes we should be registering in for Fall? I'm assuming just follow the plan outlined on the CSULB nursing website, but the total number of units for the fall semester is 19 units, and my registration info on myCSULB says I can only enroll in 18 units. Anyone know what's going on here?

Also, anyone received financial aid info/awards yet? Still nothing on myCSULB, called and said they should have it done by next week, but not sure if that's just my situation or everyones situation.

Orientation this Friday! See you guys there.

I'm excited about buying my hoodie. :)

Blue Moon,

Do you mind sharing how to calculate one's points?

Thanks : )

PS- I am applying for next year and was just wondering

Everyone,

If you were accepted, do you mind sharing your stats?

Has anyone bought their books yet? I am trying to figure out if it's worth it to buy the book bundle from the bookstore. I didn't really understand the benefits from what that rep told us at orientation...it seems like we have to buy the online books seperately anyway! I have been buying my college textbooks online thru Half and Amazon...but what is everyone else planning on doing? Any advice? Thanks!

I was just looking at the elsevier website and the bundle was around 740$ and that wasn't including all the books. I think when you buy books new, they usually have an access code or cd for supplemental tests, animations, and quizzes. Is it worth it? I don't know. During orientation, something was said about getting the online version of the book and the hard copy. I thought the online version was even more money. I think I'm going with half.com and amazon! I don't have that kind of money to blow through! Are these books for the entire fall semester or just for nursing 200 and 202?

I'm not in the EL-MSN program (BSN starting this fall) but have the same list of texts as you all. According to my research & calculations, if you get the Elsevier package (6 books + ebooks) and get the other 4 texts elsewhere, you're looking at $800 +. If you get all 10 texts (books only) from web retailers, you're looking at about $500. Anyone had a chance to stop by the university bookstore and find out how much is their textbook package?

I called the bookstore today and was told it'd be around $500 for their bundle there. But when I asked them what books were in it (just to clarify) and if that included ebooks, they weren't too clear on that. I was advised to call the nursing office. Which I did.

When I spoke to -----, she said that the bookstore bundle won't include all the books on the list, just the ones you can get from the publisher (Elsevier). She wasn't too sure about the ebooks.

Now this is where I'm sort of confused. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the announcement was that the bundle from the bookstore DID include everything on that list IN Addition to the ebooks (in the form of access codes) as well.

Did anyone else hear something else? It was a long day, and my recall may be faulty.

Although I'm not sure about the inclusion of ebooks, I did hear during orientation that bookstore bundle includes all texts on the list. I also remember hearing that we would have the option of buying 1) ebooks only 2) hardcopies only or 3) ebooks + hardcopies. Personally, I thought the Elsevier presentation was a complete waste of time. I'm sure she didn't show us anything that we couldn't figure out on our own.
