American River College Fall 2013 Applicant Pool

U.S.A. California

Published

I haven't been to any of the Multicriteria meetings on the new application process for American River College but I have a question:

If ARC is selecting students from the top 30% of applicants and automatically giving top 30% spots to those who have applied 5 or more times, does this mean that the top 30% will be made primarily of those who have applied 5 or more times?

Does it mean that you need an even higher score to be put in the top 30%/one is less likely to get a spot in the top 30% based on the multicriteria score? Or is it the top 30% of the multicriteria scores AND 5+ time applicants are included in the selection pool?

I hope some of this makes at least a little sense :)

I got my rejection letter from arc today haha

I was just getting ready to post this! Talk about a LONG wait time! So glad I don't have to worry about applying again!

Got mine too! About time! And yes, so thankful we won't have to apply again!! What a stressful nightmare it has been!

Seriously! To those who had to go through multiple application periods, I have much respect!

I got my rejection email today as well... So glad I got in SCC and don't have to do this again!

I as well got my "not accepted" email today. This was my 2nd time applying. I hope 3rd times a charm ;)

3rd time was my charm but with SCC...apparently ARC doesn't want me ;)

Well, you won't get in if you stop applying. So keep at it and eventually you'll be picked! At least for now, additional points are added for persistence. When I was applying, the system put greater statistical weight to your name the more times you applied. They've changed some things, but that doesn't mean you should quit applying or lose hope. Just keep going!

That's only one of 3 ways to qualify!

Look at Type C:

Type C (must have filed a FAFSA application or

a California Dream Act Application)

You have applied for

financial aid and have been determined to have a unmet need by the Federal

Government. A Minimum Unmet Need of 1,104 is required. For

more information please come to the Financial Aid Office.

2013-2014 Board of Governors Fee Waiver

If you fill out your FAFSA, it will go to the school automatically!

So if my unmet need is $2199, I qualify for the BOG?? How do I claim it? Lol I an so new to financial aid!

Yeah!!! You will get an email from Los rios saying you qualify and it will be automatic when you register; if you register before you get bog approval you will get a refund :)

Parking is cheaper too, but try the church first!
