New CEP Rubric for Maricopa

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hey guys,

I just saw someone posted that Maricopa has changed the grading rubric for the CEP. It seems like HESI scores matter more than ever (but thank the Lord English scores more points than math :roflmao:) and that GPA is more lenient (you get the same number of points if you have a 3.68 GPA or a 4.0) No more points for the AGEC, 2 points for any degree whether it be associate or bachelor, and no courses in progress as well as only one choice for University (and some have lower GPA requirements than others).

I feel like this rubric could leave a lot of people with the same number of points so I wonder how they'll handle that, and that those of us without a prior degree are gonna have to work our tails off.

What do you think about it, or does anyone have more information?

Hi!

I was wondering how to complete the Pool Nursing application - I cannot seem to find it but obviously I want my name in there if this is the case with the time stamps. I have noticed the advisors have not been responding to me as well. Please please get back to me!

Wow, thank you so much for that information. Although it does make me a little anxious. I just applied for traditional this Monday and will be applying for CEP in January. I'm sure I'd be last in regards to placements by time stamps if there are many with the same score :(

Hi,

The pool is the traditional nursing program wait list. The application and requirements are located on the maricopa nursing webpage. When you are ready to apply, head up to the college of your choice to turn in the application.

Ok - take a deep breath! So - there are basically 2 different nursing programs with Maricopa colleges. One is the Associates degree (ADN) and one is the CEP which is a concurrent Associates with a Bachelors degree program. In terms of what you do at the community college, they are the exact same thing. The difference with the CEP is that you'll be taking online classes with a University as well as the program at the CC.

To apply to either the ADN or the CEP you must first apply to the nursing pool. That is basically the waiting list of applicants. Here is the application for that:

Turn that in once you have ALL the required documentation and have completed all the pre-req classes for the ADN program.

If you intend to apply for the CEP, there will be additional requirements. Here's the link to that page:

Concurrent Enrollment Programs (CEP) | Academic & Student Affairs | Maricopa Community Colleges

You can turn in both application son the same day if you want, but you MUST apply to the nursing pool to be able to submit your CEP application. Note that a few of the community colleges now ONLY ACCEPT CEP students.

You will NOT be able to submit an application until all your classes are completed and your grades are posted, so you have some time to wade through all these web-pages! Don't forget to allow yourself time to get your fingerprint clearance and HESI done before you apply.

HTH!
