NAU/GCC CEP fast track option

U.S.A. Arizona

Any takers?

I faxed in my interest in taking the fast track option but so far haven't heard anything about enrolling for the extra class this summer. I would much rather have a heavier load in summer and finish in May instead of having to wait one summer and finish in December. I was just wondering who else expressed an interest. Since I haven't heard anything, I wondered if maybe not enough people expressed interest to have this track go forward.

If you are in the NAU/GCC CEP, do you plan to take the fast track option?

I faxed my interest form back on March 21st, but still haven't heard anything either. I've been diligently checking my email, app status and NAU enrollment, but NOTHING. I've read the email regarding the fast track option numerous times and it doesn't sound like they are requiring a minimum amount of interested participants in order to take advantage of this option, but then again I could be wrong.

I agree with your view on taking more classes to complete the BSN in the Spring vs waiting until December. Unfortunately, I don't think everyone is as confident as we are in their ability to take on such a heavy workload AND keep their grades up. As far as I'm concerned, it was a no brainer to take advantage of this opportunity.

Since it was only offered to GCC, I don't expect there will be many others going this route.

On another note...CONGRATS on getting into the program and I look forward to meeting you and taking on the next two grueling years of nursing school.

Well I am hoping that there are others interested (who maybe don't read this forum, and thus we won't hear from them).

I agree, the wording of the letter suggests that the fast track option is not contingent upon a minimum number; on the other hand, there was mention of "determine the level of interest and preferences for scheduling" that led me to believe that some decision of some sort depended on the amount of interest. I sent an email a few days ago to one of the NAU advisors, so I hope to get a reply about the status of the fast track option soon.

I too, have been surprised by how slowly things are moving with the NAU application. I applied Feb. 13 and received a phone call on Apr. 5 that I was accepted -- but I have not received a letter yet and my online application status still says "complete" not "admitted. It took forever to have my previous transcripts processed.

Congrats to you too, and I look forward to meeting you at Orientation (or may NUR 330?). And if it turns out there are only a few taking the fast track option, it is nice to at least know of one other person who will be taking the gerontology class along with me (who is in my cohort). I've been trying to upload a pic for my profile, but so far have been unsuccessful. That way, I will be easier to recognize -- but here's a hint: I will be one of the "older" students.

bsnblondie2014:

I was told (via email) from an NAU advisor that there were "several" students who wanted the fast track option, and that we will be enrolled in the additional summer course sometime next week. So just keep checking LOUIE or MyNAU to see your class schedule. She also indicated that we would be emailed when enrollment is complete.

I just checked my LOUIE account and I have been enrolled in both NUR 330 & NUR 321. So fast track is definitely happening! BTW I am in the first NUR 330 section (starting June 4).

I am in the June 4 NUR 330 too. Just wondering how the class has been for those who have taken the class in past.

I checked my LOUIE account yesterday and it looks like I'm enrolled in the NUR321 as well. YEAH!!! I'm in the June 4th NUR330 class as well. I'm really excited to meet everyone and curious to find out how many others have chosen the fast track option.

Being an older student myself, it's comforting to know there are others like me taking on such a challenge this late in life.

@bsnblondie Yes, I was happy to hear that I won't be the only fast-tracker, and also not the only older student in at the Glendale campus. Which clinical site did you choose for NUR 151? I'm in Glencroft, meets on Thursdays. It was the site closest to my home. Are you changing careers?

@jnhunold: I chose Glencroft also for my clinicals for the same reason (I live close to the Glendale North Campus). This will definitely be a career change for me although I have varied experience in the healthcare field. Have you heard anything about the lab component for NAU NUR307 in the fall?

@bsnblondie : No I haven't heard anything about NUR 307, but I recall that the admissions package (the email) stated that the in-person component would be scheduled around our Glendale courses.

I am changing careers; I was previously a biostatistician working in the pharmaceutical industry. So I have some healthcare background in terms of the science, but absolutely no direct patient care experience. But direct patient experience is what I found missing in my previous career. I got tired interacting with a computer all day!

As I posted in another thread, I received the NUR 330 syllabus in my email today (check your official NAU gmail account). No information on NUR 321 yet. It is on my schedule but there is no book information yet. And nothing yet about NUR 307 in the fall. I do keep checking to see if it pops up on LOUIE.

HEY everybody who is getting ready to start the NAU CEP program through GCC. :) I, Carrie, just found out about this forum and wanted to let you all know that several of us are planning a get to know you gathering at Corner Bakery Cafe on Thursday, May 17th at 6:30; they have a small reserved room available for us to use. It is located at Arrowhead near the Harkins theater. Respond here to let me know if you are able to attend. See you then and looking forward to getting to know all of you ahead of the game. :)
