NAU/GCC CEP fast track option

Published

Any takers?

I faxed in my interest in taking the fast track option but so far haven't heard anything about enrolling for the extra class this summer. I would much rather have a heavier load in summer and finish in May instead of having to wait one summer and finish in December. I was just wondering who else expressed an interest. Since I haven't heard anything, I wondered if maybe not enough people expressed interest to have this track go forward.

If you are in the NAU/GCC CEP, do you plan to take the fast track option?

@naunurse: Hi Carrie, nice to meet you. I will be at the Corner Bakery gathering. I see you posted this on several threads; good idea. Are you by any chance doing the fast track? So far I know of only one other person (she posts as bsnblondie2014) who is doing the fast track.

naunurse: Hi Carrie, welcome to allnurses.com! What a great idea to get everyone together for a meet and greet before classes start. Unfortunately, I will be out of town until the end of May so I won't be able to attend the gathering at the Corner Bakery. You and I (Jennifer) met at the GASN panel discussion back in March (we exchanged numbers also). I too was wondering if you are pursuing the fast track option. I've spoken to a few other people and right now the only other person I know of is jhunold.

jhunold: I just checked my email this morning and saw the syllabus for NUR330 as well. I ordered my books yesterday through Amazon which should arrive by next week. If I remember correctly, you've already received yours and I was wondering if you've begun the assigned readings. As far as the NUR321 goes, I don't have any information on the books or syllabus either, but I too am checking LOUIE constantly.

@bsnblondie: I have the books and intend to start reading next week. I first want to map everything out on my calendar so that I have a game plan. Also, I work part-time at EMCC (I'm a tutor) and I'm planning to do the bulk of my course preparation after finals end on May 10 (that's also when my job ends -- at least until Summer I starts).

I think I might have been at the same table as you and Carrie at the GASN panel discussion. I remember wondering how you guys seemed to know each other -- I know no one else in the program. But there were 3 of you talking about stuff that sounded like CEP, and I do remember someone saying they lived in/near North Glendale. I thought about joining the conversation, but I'm kinda shy. I was the older black woman with glasses and very short hair. Sound familiar? Of course given that I did not utter a single word that whole evening, I wouldn't be surprised if no one remembered me. :specs:

Oh, don't forget to get your "nursing student" ID from GCC enrollment center. I went today and got mine. You need to pay for your Fall classes first, or have made the first payment on a payment plan.

Hope to meet you soon. I remember you sat at the same table with us so next time I see you I will say hi:)

Hello everyone my name is Shandre and I too have been accepted into the GCC/NAU CEP for spring 2013. I applied in May at GCC and recieved my acceptance letter a week after. I was amazed at how quickly the response was. I also chose the fast track option, but I have not recieved any confirmation stating that I was accepted for that option. I have yet to meet anyone that will be starting along side me in the spring :( My classes start August 27th and I would love to be able to get a head start on the reading. I live close by EMCC and was hoping that I would get into the program through EMCC, but glendale works for me! It's better than MCC or SCC that's for sure. I spoke with --------- and she reaasured me that everything was correct on my application and that I should check back for emails and updated information on my NAU acct and LOUIE. I am indecisive on whether or not I should buy my books online or upload them to my ipad through kindle? Has anyone found any great deals that they would love to share ;) Can't wait to meet you all! Congrats to everyone and good luck!

You can find us by using the search box and the name is:

Hello shandre,

I have a quick question. How did you like the fast track option??? I just got accepted for fall 2013 and I signed up for the fast track option and wanted to hear if it was worth doing. Thank you.

Shandre and I are in the same class. We are excited about the fast track because we will graduate with the BSN instead of having to wait another 6 months or so after our ADN is finished. But....it is alot of work. Not hard work mind you...the NAU classes are not difficult...but doing that and block 1 is very time consuming. You need a great deal of time management and good studying skills in order to do well and you will put in lots and lots of time studying. Good luck to you and maybe we will meet you when you start classes in the fall!

Hello Keith,

Welcome! My name is Shandre and I am in my 3rd semester of the NAU/GCC/CEP. Some good advice? hmm...I can tell you to make sure that you pay attention to your instructors and focus on the ppts that are provided. I used my books to mostly clarify terms that I did not quite understand. As for books I would wait until you start the course. Publishers publish new editions quite often and some teachers will accept older editions and some won't. Hope this helps. Good luck and Congrats :)
