AM I AN RN YET?
Thanks to you both! I just got the text that they posted my license number! Now I really am official!

AM I AN RN YET?
I graduated in December '14, got my ATT, took and passed my NCLEX, but I still don't have a license number from my BoN! All the information is in: my fingerprints have processed, my fees paid, nothing is pending, but still no license number. How long does it take before the BoN posts a license number after you pass NCLEX? Can I say I am an RN yet? All of the applications I have looked at online ask if you are a registered nurse...

GCC/NAU Concurrent Program
Hi Jemeshaw, You have to complete your nursing prereqs just for Maricopa nursing and get on the wait list before you can even apply to get into the concurrent enrollment with ASU. Once you are on the wait list for the maricopa program, you will get the information about an "information session" for the CEP and after attending that, you will be able to attend an "application session" for the CEP. Don't just think about ASU though, NAU also has a great program with fewer prereqs and the cost is a bit less. Good luck to you!

Question about Clinical sites with Maricopa Nursing
You get a choice at some schools, between a few sites as they usually can only take a certain number each day. I got to choose from two or three sites each block at GCC.

NUR 330
NUR330 in the CEP program with NAU is in person at their Phoenix location (greenway & the I-17). It is a good class and is not online. In the fall, you will take Health Assessment and that will be both...theory online and a lab at your community college. Both classes are one day a week in person. Also, if you get into the fast track program, you can take an additional class this fall online which is gerontology. It was a simple online class and you will learn a great deal from your classmates from the discussion that is required. I can't speak for ASU or UOP. Good luck!

GCC/NAU Concurrent Program
jjanous, Orientation at GCC is on July 10th. You can take your CPR anytime between now and then. Those of us who started this last Spring semester are excited for you all to start! Congrats and see you in July! Susan

NAU/GCC CEP fast track option
Shandre and I are in the same class. We are excited about the fast track because we will graduate with the BSN instead of having to wait another 6 months or so after our ADN is finished. But....it is alot of work. Not hard work mind you...the NAU classes are not difficult...but doing that and block 1 is very time consuming. You need a great deal of time management and good studying skills in order to do well and you will put in lots and lots of time studying. Good luck to you and maybe we will meet you when you start classes in the fall! donovasu "Assume benevolence...people do things that annoy us, not to annoy us."

GCC/NAU Concurrent Program
I am not 100% sure about ASU, but Maricopa didn't put me in as accepted until after they did the regular placements which was in September. I had already started my NAU class, so I expect you won't see a change in your status until after that time. As long as you receive a letter from John and then from ASU welcoming you to the program, I wouldn't worry much. We did alot of worrying when things werent' happening as fast as we would have liked, but didn't need to fear. Just keep up on their requests for paperwork and such and you will be fine. FYI: Don't do your tb tests until the month or two before you start your maricopa classes if you don't already need them. Same with your CPR. The tb has to last through your first two blocks of school and your CPR will last through your entire schooling if you wait. donovasu "Assume benevolence....people do things that annoy us, not to annoy us."

Maricopa Waiting List / Placement / Timestamps 2010+
HESI scores were above 85% and most gpa's were above 3.2. You have to have good grades in the courses that have asterisks as those are the ones they really look at. For Spring 2013, the class I am in, there were not enough students to fill all the CEP slots, but that will be changing as people realize they need to do this program in order to get into school faster and to get a job after graduation. Good luck! donovasu "Assume benevolence...people do things that annoy us, not to annoy us."

Maricopa Waiting List / Placement / Timestamps 2010+
I'm not sure. Are you already in school? If so, I wouldn't worry, it's really more an issue for those looking to get into school, although, I do hear that some of the CEP students ahead of me have heard from their sites that they will only take BSN students.

Maricopa Waiting List / Placement / Timestamps 2010+
Just a heads up all, while Maricopa Community College says they have no plans to get rid of the ADN program, there were very few slots this semester at my school available for those seeking just the ADN. The other thing is that there are some clinical sites that are only allowing BSN seeking students to do clinicals with them or even hiring RN's unless they have a BSN degree. If you have a two year wait anyway, take all the prerequisites and corequisites in order to qualify for the CEP program with the community college and save a bunch of money over a standard 4 year degree. Good luck all! "Assume benevolence...people do things that annoy us, not to annoy us."

Co-complainers. Is anything good enough?
I am a CNA on a busy unit in a hospital and also in nursing school. I have seen it both ways. We have some aides that will do the bare minimum and some that work their tails off. We also have some nurses that will peruse E-bay while call lights are going off on both sides of the pod. If I was in your position, I would speak with the CNA in question off to the side and explain your feelings. If you still get flack, then I would report the person. You deserve to be treated as any other nurse, even if you are new"er". Good luck and I hope you get to work with CNA's that do care about the patients and work with you instead of against you.

Banner Good Samaritan
I work at that hospital and we are in desperate need of experienced RN's right now. You could get called off, but if you can afford the chance, it is a great place to work.

Work shoes! Please help
At the end of a 12 hour shift, my feet and legs hurt. I got a pair of orthotics and bought a pair of Z-coils. I know, I know, people say they are not safe, etc, but you can get them with a closed heel now. Now I can go 12 hours and while my feet are tired, they are not so sore I can't stand or sleep when I get home. I also change my shoes every other day, so I am not wearing the same pair every day. If you can, go see a podiatrist, just to make sure you don't have any medical issues which could affect what kind of shoe you need. The money is worth every night I can still go for a walk with my honey.

the nurses i work with dont want me to succeed!
It sounds like your "friend" is trying to start some drama. Drop it and don't discuss it with anyone on your floor. Continue to do your best and talk to your HR representative if you want to discuss this rumor with someone.
