Moving to AZ, what is the job market like?

U.S.A. Arizona

I plan to move to the Phoenix area within the next year to year and a half.

I have my BSN and 4 years of nursing experience including Med/surg and ER experience. I am BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC certified.

What are my chances of finding a decent job? Also what does an RN with experience typically start out at within the hospital setting?

I would prefer to work ER or ICU.

Thanks!

Hi! I read this earlier but didn't want to respond because I don't really have any first hand information to share with you. I was hoping a local seasoned nurse might be able to assist. But since there hasn't been any reply I will share with you my take. :) (I am still a student and not a nurse) From the standpoint of one just entering nursing school, the job market is hard for new grads-very competitive. However, I search the job boards all the time and it seems that those with your experience shouldn't have a problem at all finding a job. But again, that is coming from someone who doesn't really have the first hand knowledge that comes with actually being in the environment and really knowing the job market. I know this doesn't help much…but at least it will bump this back to the top and maybe someone else can jump in. :)

I didn't want to respond either because I don't have firsthand experience... but my knowledge of the market is the same as desertlady's. It's tough and extremely competitive for new grads but if you have experience, you won't have a problem! Good luck! :)
