How do people like working in Phoenix?

I know I still have a way to go until I can move out of Tucson. But I was wondering how do the RNs like working in the hospitals in the phoenix area? Anyone work at St. Joe's or even county hospital? How do the employers treat their nurses? Any answer would be a great help to me as I decide where to move to next.

I work at St Joes and I have really enjoyed it. Things are a little tighter these days and it is harder for new grads due to the economy. But I think St Joes is a great place for a new grad. Lots of learning opportunities and lots of support. I couldn't be happier I chose to come here. I moved here from Washington State. We definitely love the weather, even the summers are tolerable. Will take that any day over constant rain. We moved here without ever having traveled to Phoenix and we just love it. Just miss our families but nothing we can do about that at the moment.

Well, I'm not a new grad. So hopefully it will be easier for me to get a job :) I've heard great things about St. Joes and a lot of my classmates who I graduated with moved to phoenix to work at St. Joes, I just never kept in touch with them. The only down side is that I don't know if I want to live in Phoenix :(. I lived there before in 2003-2004, and I ended up moving back home anyways, but that was before I was a nurse. Maybe things would be different now sinse I'm making more money.

One drawback of working day shift at St. Joes is that you have to park OFFSITE and take a shuttle to work. There is a severe parking spot shortage. You will have to add about 30 minutes to your commute time each way due to this issue.

There is no problem for night shift.

Throw in traffic problems, air pollution, crime and it is a nonoption for me!
