Chamberlain College of Nursing BSN Program

Hello!! I just joined this site today because I was recently accepted into Chamberlain College of Nursing, I am scheduled to begin classes on March 1st and I was wondering if anyone else is going to Chamberlain and also if anyone has heard anything (good or bad) about this school. I am very excited to start and I think that the most appealing thing about this school is that there isn't a wait list... I applied in August, was accepted in October and I am beginning in March. It is quite expensive but I think (or at least hope) that it is worth it. Also instead of doing the ADN, I have decided to do the BSN, any comments?? Advice?

does anybody know if students have to wear scrubs to class everyday? I know most of nursing schools do but i wasn't sure if Chamberlain does.

You don't have to wear scrubs to class except clinicals. Their dress code for classes is almost thesame for any other school out there.All these I think is in their code of conduct or one of those other forms which I can't remember.

i haven't paid for anything yet but got my schedule last week ...

Hi,

I have a quick question about the schedule. I am applying for the July start date and so far all my credits trasferred except I still need 4 gen-ed classes and of course all the nursing classes. My sister is in the same boat as me. So my question is would we have the same schedule since we need the same classes? Also can we mix the gen-ed classes in with the nursing classes? Any information would be great about this! Thank you so much I appreciate your help! :)

Do any of you know if the Chicago campus is accredited since it just opened in July? I live fairly far south from both the Chicago and the Addison campus (35 miles from Addison and 25 miles from Chicago) but the Chicago campus is about 10 miles closer. I would love to not have to travel the extra 20 miles a day but it worries me that the Chicago campus may not be accredited yet. The addison campus has been open since 2008 so they are already CCNE accredited and they are more established. I would love to hear some opinions.

The campus will not be officially accredited until they have a couple of classes actually finish the program. They want to make sure that the students are being taught the material in order to pass the NCLEX. This is why the Phoenix campus is still provisional, but should be changing considering they've had two graduating classes and 100% pass rates on the boards.

The BSN program at Chamberlain College of Nursing was accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for a ten year term in October 2004. The CCNE accreditation includes all campuses at which the BSN program is offered.

The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) accredits each individual campus that offers the BSN program. According to NLNAC policies, an individual campus is not eligible for initial accreditation until the time of graduation of its first class.

Hey guys - I am attending the Phoenix campus and was wondering from people who are further in the program than me....do we ever get to use/work with cadavers??

To my knowledge no, I didn't take A&P there. We work on manikins further along in the program though.

Hi weinna -- That's a great question. I'm not in the admissions department so I don't know for sure, but I'd encourage you to check with your admission rep or the campus Director of Admission. They can certainly answer any admission questions you may have.

Hi! Has anyone in Chamberlain's BSN program had ALL their prerequsite classes transfer over from a cc? And if so were you allowed to start the nursing cirriculum right away when you started? I know sometimes schools make you take "their version" of prereqs.

I had taken most of my pre-reqs already at GCC. They allowed me to transfer them. The only pre-reqs I'm taking through them are a history elective, math, a speech class, and their 'success seminar'. Otherwise I started in the 3rd semester and will be taking my first nursing class next semester. I have talked to other students though that are transferring from out of state schools and are having some trouble getting their credits transferred. You should speak with one of the advisors. They're pretty helpful.
