I can't seem to decide if I should take BIO 205 online or in person! RioSalado is the only online Maricopa college that I would take the course, although, you have in person midterms and finals. Help! What do you suggest?

They aren't fixed now either! I started it at Rio and dropped it as well. I am going to take it in person for sure. Just need a time and day that fit in with work. I hear Gateway has a great instructor that teaches both Chm130 and Bio 205

First of all is to choose what you are comfortable with in regards to time and study habits. If you have adequate knowledge background for microbiology then Rio will be good time wise. If you can attend class, so much the better. I did my BIO205 at rio twice. The first time I took it with a full load (with BIO 101 and Math 120) on top of working fulltime. So, guess what, I got a D my first time lol bad decision not to drop it. It wasn't the learning i had a problem with but the assignments that comes every week on both lec and lab, to top it off my instructor did help at all. The second time, I took it again @ Rio since I don't have a choice of going with in-class setting. My instructor was ok but I worked very hard on my assignments and really studied and got an A. Rio is a double sword edge in terms of BIO classes, If you get lucky in regards of the instructors going by the book with your essays then you will make high points or you get instructors that doesn't have a life putting a lot of time scrutinizing every explanation and examples you give and still looks for what she want to see then you will definitely fail. Exams aren't that bad if you memorize good and most of the quizzes were not timed so you can get perfect scores for that.

Good luck on what you decide.

I, too, would recommend you take it online. If you live anywhere near Central Phoenix, the BEST teacher ever is at Phoenix Community College!!! She is a phenomenal Micro teacher, makes her class a ton of fun, doesn't bog you down wiht busy work, writes her own outlines that she actually gives to you, and really helps you "get it". Good luck!

i agree! i had her for the lab portion of micro and she was awesome, i had the male instructor for lecture and he was equally amazing. i aced the course.
