BIO 202 professor recommendations - HELP

I'm currently taking BIO202 and am having a very poor experience. Our instructor does not care for student questions in class, and the environment is not conducive to learning at all. I've gotten A's in my other BIO classes and had a 3.87 undergrad GPA. I've had FANTASTIC instructors at the college I'm at now. It is far from my house, but I chose to drive the extra miles to get there for spring BIO202. Now I regret this decision. The class is averaging a D and the whole thing is terrible. Instructions and expectations are unclear, and the communication with the professor just isn't there. I've tried everything and feel completely demoralized. I've never dropped a class in my life and I'm thinking this might be the first. I care about learning this material very well- and it is not happening in this class.

I've taken the steps I need to talk to the dept, but it is too late to back out of this class. At this point, I'm looking to re-take the class for my own personal learning as well as a better grade. My school options include Gateway, Glendale, PVCC and Phx College. I do not want to take the class online. Can anybody please PM me with any professor recommendations as well as BIO202 classes to stay out of? It will be my second time around paying and taking the class, and I want to be able to be successful and learning the material with a reasonable instructor who is not rude or has a "no questions allowed" attitude.

I plan to re-start summer or fall. This is such an important class, so thank you in advance for your recommendations! :bow:

phoenix college has one or two great instructors.

My instructor at PVCC was wonderful. She's very sweet, very energetic, and very excited to teach. She does give a lot of extra homework, but I think that helps most students out. About halfway through the semester she showed us our grades on a graph....there were about 24 A's and 3 B's. I really don't think anyone got below a B in that class. She's always willing to answer questions...especially when it comes to the reproduction and embryology chapters. You can see in her eyes how excited she is that you asked a question that she got to go into detail about.

The only thing that was weird about our class was that we had two labs per week. Instead of having one 3 hour lab a week, we had two 1.5 hour labs a week. It wasn't bad, but it made the cat dissection a little awkward since we had to split it up into two days.

Don't forget about www.ratemyprofessor.com - Ihave found some really good teachers there and know exactly which ones to avoid.

I know it's not on your list, but ASU has an AMAZING instructor who I had for 201 and am currently in 202 with. She also teaches Micro. She's awesome! Put it this way: I failed BIO201 @ CGCC (or at least dropped failing). Ended up with a B+ @ ASU. Yeah, she rocks!

She's probably good no doubt - just one question though, how big are A&P classes at ASU? No desire myself to go there, just wondering.......

My class is maybe 300. Labs are capped off at 24 and its taught by a TA. I have ****** luck with my TA's. The one this semester is tougher than hell and last semester, the same story. I find my lab grade actually brought by lecture grade down which is a bummer.

You didn't list Estrella Mountain CC, but if it is anywhere near you - one of their instructors is super awesome!! She really cares about the success of her students. She is also a great teacher.

Yikes.... that is a huge class. And taught by a TA to boot. And I hear that ASU is raising their tuition rates **again**. No thanks..... I'll stick with the community college route. At least to become an RN. Maybe someday go to a private college for RN to MSN bridge - I already have a B.S. degree - it's just not in nursing......
