  1. Hi there, I got your PM but unfortunately do not have permission to reply to PMs yet. PM me your e-mail address and I can send you the info. that way. Davi
  2. I just took BIO201 through RIO and I've been out of college for 9 yrs. It's definitely a challenging class that requires a lot of studying time (and memorization) and time to complete the assignments. I'm not sure how the class will be on a campus but I've read that taking BIO classes online through RIO is much more difficult than in-class. If you're good at Biology then you may find it easier than others would and that will help you determine if taking BIO156 will help you or not. I was also fortunate to be able to take the class without working since I've been a SAHM and having my son in daycare for 5 hrs a day. I think with your work schedule, you may possibly be overwhelmed. Not trying to freak you out but that's something you may want to think about. Davi
  3. Glina - Thanks for the info. I can't send PM's so I'm thanking you on here :)
  4. Hoozdo - Thanks for your input. I agree - it's Human A&P so human cadavers would be more helpful, since we'll be working with humans daily. I'm also an animal lover (more of a dog lover so I would probably cry if it were dogs that had to be dissected, but I don't think I can see cats either). Amers_here - Which college did you take your BIO classes at?
  5. Glina, that would be great if you can PM me his name. I am thinking of taking BIO202 at Glendale CC. That's the part I hate about the exams at Rio, the essay portion What were the homework assignments like in the class - any essays? Davi
  6. I am about to complete BIO201 at Rio next week and am thinking ahead to BIO202. For those who have taken BIO classes online at Rio and in-class through one of the Maricopa Community Colleges, how do they compare? I didn't find BIO201 at Rio difficult, but I did find it challenging at times with a lot of information overload. Is it easier to take these courses on campus, in person? What are the assignments for BIO202 like on campus - i.e. essays, quizzes, exams, labs? Any information would be great to help me make my decision. Thanks! Davi
  7. If you don't mind my asking, where are you taking the class? I'm currently taking BIO 201 as well through Rio and I agree - it's a lot of info! I was a Biology major in college but have been out of school for 8 yrs, so it's not only a challenge getting back into the "studying" mode, but trying to do it with a class such as this one that is so info-packed and overwhelming at times. I agree with the other posters - everybody has their own way of studying that works best for them. So far I've just been trying to memorize the info by reading my notes and drilling it into my head...that's what I'm planning on doing for the midterm. We'll see how it goes after I get my grade! Try not to stress about it too much and let it get you down. This class is by no means an indication of what kind of Nurse you will be. One of my best friends is a doctor doing her residency and she said you really don't use this info in the actual working world. I know I won't remember it by then! Hang in there!! :nuke:
  8. You are right. Micro is a co-req which is not required to be completed upon applying to the Nursing program. I believe BIO 202 is also a co-req - that's what I was told by an advisor at GCC.
  9. I'm not working. I've been at home with my son (now 18 months) since he was born so I've decided that this would be a great time for me to go back to school. I heard it's difficult to juggle both work and the Nursing program but it can be done. Personally I don't think I could do it all - work, school and then taking care of my son and the home. I've been reading that these classes aren't easy so it might be a good idea to take smaller loads each semester if you're working. Good luck to you too!
  10. Well this is my 1st class I'm taking after graduating with my BS 8 years ago, so hopefully it won't be a shock to me :imbar I don't believe this is an accelerated class - it runs till V-day next year.
  11. I'm taking BIO201 online from Rio Salado starting on Oct. 27th. When and where are you taking your class?
  12. Thanks! Actually for those who use Facebook, you can add an application on there that lists the ratings of professors as well.
  13. I just found out that I need Bio 201 as a pre-req before I can apply to the Nursing program. I am thinking about taking it at Rio starting end of October and have read the mixed opinions about taking Bio classes online. My question is for those of you who liked your instructors, what are their names and is there any way we can choose the instructor we want when we register?
