Bio 156 midterm (Rio Salado)

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hey guys, I made the unfortunate mistake of taking the accelerated Bio 156 class offered through Rio. I have to take the mid term by next Saturday, but really don't feel like I have learned ANYTHING!

Anyway, is anyone else taking this class & would be interested in meeting for a study session? Or has anyone taken this class and yhas any input on what to expect on the midterm?

Thanks guys

I took it last summer in 8 weeks as well. Make sure you know all of the questions from previous tests and also be sure to know something about every essay question as well. Those can save your grade. This class was pain in the you know what, especially 8 wks. I think I spent more time studying for this one then for API or II. Otherwise, just study.

Midterm is alot of what you were already tested on. Use the review to go through the items on there you really are having trouble with. Go to the website from the book (if they still have that) and take all the quizzes on there too... like above poster said have something for every essay question as they are a grade saver. REMEMBE THE APPLICATION PARAGRAPH!!

I did the Bio156 Acc. and got a C and was happy with that as I had 4 other classes at the same time which I managed A's in.

Good luck

What do you mean by application paragraph?

How were the 80 multiple choice questions? Did the questions come out of the quizzes? Were the essay questions the same as our essays we did in our homework????

I appreciate any help!!!!

Do you still have the Lab reports? I am doing just awful with the real life examples. By the time I am at the end of my Lab report, my brain doesn't seem to work anymore. Any ideas where i can find real life examples? Thanks. Anything that could help me to survive this course!!! Thanks.

Make sure you know cellular respiration inside and out. You should also be able to answer any of the AYL questions that are given each week. They pull a few of those out for the midterm. I think there was one or two that were actually assigned in class on the midterm. There was also some that we weren't assigned on the midterm. I failed the midterm, miserably. I also took the 8 week class. I figured out exactly how many points I had to get on the final in order to have the 60% average required for the midterm and final. I got a B on the final so I passed the class but I was sure sweating it! Good luck! I think they make this class much harder than it has to be!

Thank you so much. Do you have still any material. I know I shouldn't ask you for that; my concern are not really the essays, more the lab reports. I don't know why I think they are so horrible, can't explain. Probably because it is so repetitious. I do the labs and I have fun, but when it comes to the sentence I hypothesize,.....I just die.....and than at the end I have no energy anymore for the real life example.

I got hammered on my real life experience too. I'm not much help here. Sorry! My instructor did give examples of what to write, so maybe you can refer back to that for some help?

All of the AYL's you've seen before are up for grabs on the midterm and for the second part of the semester those are for the final. I think there were 4 essay questions and 80 multiple choice questions. An application paragraph is the last paragraph where you relate the topic to an actual application you can use in our life. If its about cells explain how you can use the knowlege you learned about cells to teach a future pt, or your kid in highschool, or how you can apply it to research. Something like that. I got a B in the 8 week so it can be done.

Thank you so much, I guess once you sit here and do 7 hrs of biology, the essays, the AYL questions, rereading the lesson, I guess I just panic. I work all day tomorrow (ER at Banner) so I can get away from Bio for a moment. Will feel good. Did you buy the cliff notes book? Or was it someone elase?

I am taking Bio 156 right now as well, and I am just as confused as you. I am extremly nervous about this Midterm and would be interested in studying together. Let me know when and what time is good for you.
