ASU Fall 2010 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Ok gang, now it's our turn to start sharing information, tips and score ranges for those applying to the ASU (Arizona State) upper division nursing program for the Fall 2010 semester.

With the new TEAS testing requirement, I'm not sure we can apply to our situation the historical score ranges from the past (when they had to take the NET) so let's all share information and support for those of us applying for advancement.

I took the TEAS today got an 85.3% composite score. Both the program and national percentile scores were 98%. I'm applying with a 4.0 GPA. If this was a NET score submission for the Spring 2010 semester, I'd be right on the bubble. I'm wondering how others are scoring on the TEAS and if anyone's heard of any nuances in the application of those scores to our overall advancement scores. I'm under the impression that the Program Percentile score is pretty important as it is the ranking within our program exclusively - does anyone know if that is correct or not?

I recall that there will be only 60 advanced into the upper division program this Fall so I know the competition is going to be stiff.

If anyone has any information regarding scoring, numbers applying, numbers to be advanced, etc, please share! It's a long way off until they let us know where we stand - It will be nice to have a forum where we can bounce off one another.

i faxed mine in today. i chose either option with a preference for the mayo campus. crossing my fingers, i just want to get in period at this point.

How does ASU determine which students get into the Downtown or Mayo campus?

Thanks

they rank every applicant based on their score (gpa & teas score). the first 20 people who requested mayo as their first choice get mayo. the top 60 are then placed downtown. there are usually anywhere from 9-12 alternates selected next. the rest receive rejection letters.

Got the letter yesterday to verify all information submitted was correct. One step closer!

I remember seeing on another ASU Nursing posting string a discussion about some of the numbers on the letters THEY received. On their documentation, there was a notation that they were viewing "Page XX of XX", and there was speculation that the second number represented how many people were applying. I don't recall if that was ever confirmed or not. On my letter it shows "Page XX of 122". I've spoken to another applicant whose page number is different than mine, but still out of 122. You think there's a possibility that only 122 have applied for advancement? I wonder if any of the advisors would share that information.

These are the things we think about while waiting.....waiting.....waiting.....

i remember seeing the thread you're talking about. from what i understand it is possible that is the number of people who applied and had all the requirements. unfortunately, the school won't tell you information like that. they keep it so secretive. i guess it is worth a shot though. hopefully there are only 122 applicants. since there are 80 spots that would be a 66% acceptance, not including alternates. let's all keep our fingers crossed that the number of applicants is around that or lower!

actually, my papers say 5 of 30. not sure if these numbers indicate anything.

There are 30 re-applicants.

Hi everyone!

I just found this thread and it is nice to see that there are others who are obsessing over the ASU waiting game as much as I am :)

I just looked my verification letter and I am also out of 122. In fact, I am 122 out of 122. Now my last name is at the very end of the alphabet so I am taking that as a good sign :) So if there are 122 new applicants and 30 re-applicants then that means we only have 152 people applying for this term...right? If so, I think those numbers are much better than previous sessions.

Did anyone find mistakes on their application? I found one and had to call in, they said they corrected it, but they won't send out a new verification form so I am nervous about trusting someone verbally, especially when I cannot see the correction. I would hate to have come this far and not get in because someone can't type lol.

This IS a great place to give and get information. I just wish there were more of us posting and sharing information. Please be sure to pass this site (and more specifically this posting string) on to others you know who have submitted for advancement. The more we get involved, the better!

I'm curious what kind of error you found. I don't want to pry into your personal information, but in which section did you find your issue? I've gone over mine a number of times, but I fear I'll miss something. Also, I hear you on being uncomfortable about trusting that your corrections have been made properly - heck, I don't trust myself to do it right! I wonder if they'd verify your changes if you called (or even better stopped in) next week.

I'm liking my chances with 152 applicants a lot more than the 300 number that was bouncing around earlier this year. I'm a little surprised if the number is truly that low, especially if 30 are reapplicants. But from what I'm seeing and hearing, it seems like the 152 number may be correct.

Best of luck to you and don't forget to spread the word about this site!

You're not prying at all! I took all of my prereq. classes at UofA and MCCCD and so my course numbers are different than ASU's. One of my classes was input wrong...basically my chem course was transcribed as "103A" instead of "CHEM103A". Simple mistake, but I do not want to essentially waste an entire semester re-applying over it.

I would absolutely tell all of the people I know who applied to ASU about this thread, but sadly you guys are it :lol2: Like I said before, I went to UofA and MCCCD, so unfortunately I did not meet any other people who wanted to come to ASU.

I just talked to my advisor today. She said there were 175 applicants this semester and that they would be mailing out the acceptance letters the week of the 14th! She speculated that the number was much lower this semester because they were really pushing for students whose grades weren't perfect to peruse others options in the health care field. But I think maybe it has something to do with the rising fees! ;)

Just reading your post, brings back so many memories of anguish waiting to get in. Good luck to you guys
