hi,

just wanted to see if anyone else has applied or will be applying to the cep program this week?? it would be nice to have others to "wait in anticipation" with. i haven't seen much talk on here about the cep program, is everyone just waiting out the associates for maricopa instead?? i just couldn't imagine having to wait 4-5 semesters to get in.......

i am applying at mcc/nau today at 1pm.

hope to hear from you all!

hi all,

i asked the advisors today and they said that mcc is not sending notifications out until next week because the head of the department is out this week. just wanted to let y'all know so you can not stress....well... not until next week anyway lol

keep us updated!

congrats to those that got accepted! :nurse:

Whoop whoop!!! GWCC/NAU my first choice. Thrilled the wait is over!! Good luck to you all! Keep us posted.

Congrats!

Yay hope I get the good news too soon!! :yeah:

Hi everyone! I was on edge waiting to hear if I was accepted into the program for NAU @ SCC. I called the nursing coordinator there and they told me acceptance letters should go out early next week, which is obviously past the june 2nd deadline that we had been given. So don't lose hope if you haven't heard, from what I've read other schools are letting students know next week as well. Good luck everyone!

Hello All,

When calculating GPA is it the overall grade or the GPA of certain classes e.g. Bio/A&P etc...

My overall GPA is not that great ( 3.2 which I thought was pretty good until I started reading these posts)

On the Hesi, do they look at the science portion etc? Or is it based on Math, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Comprehension?

I have taken the Hesi and my Score was 88% which I plan on taking again ( I didn't realize there was a calculator and did all the math in my head, still I passed but barley)

Any help is much appreciated

:)

One more question, I havent heard of the CEP until recently. How does one find out how to apply and where to apply?

Thank you

when calculating the gpa for the cep they only count the courses with a asterisk next to them. look through the brochures on this site and you will see what i mean

http://nursing.maricopa.edu/concurrentenrollment.php

so it is super important that you try to do as best as you can in those courses since that is what they count.

in regards to the hesi, maricopa only uses the reading (comprehension, grammar, vocab) and math sections. they do not require any other sections on the test. an 88% is really good!! i got an 88% when i took it the 1st time last year and then i retook it this year and scored a 93%. i worked really hard to get all the math section correct. they do have a basic calculator so that sort of helps. there were many fraction questions so you can't really use a calculator for those, you basically have to know how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions by hand.

for information on the cep go to the site above and read carefully through the brochures. in a nutshell you have to:

apply to maricopa nursing > get on the waiting list> register for and attend an info session > finish all pre and coreqs listed in brochure > register for and attend application session > and finally wait !!!

best of luck

@Amerk:

The GPA is calculated based on specific classes. The actual classes used depends on the partner school, so you need to check for each school (NAU, ASU, U of Phoenix, etc). But it corresponds closely to the pre-reqs and co-reqs for each school.

The HESI score is based on the non-science sections only (at least when i applied, perhaps it has changed, so you would need to verify this). When I took the HESI at GCC, I was not even given the science portions. It was just math, vocabulary, reading comprehension and grammar.

For some reason I don't completely understand, one is not told about CEP until after you get on the Maricopa wait list. So if you are not yet on the wait list, that's the first thing you need to do. Then you get access to a link to register for an information session, which is required. After you attend an information session, then you have access to a link to register for an application session.

For general information on the CEP and the requirements (including how the GPA is calculated), go to www.maricopa.nursing.edu

On the left-hand side there are links to download a brochure about your program of choice. The brochure has pretty much all the information you need.

Good luck!

Oh I missed CinDRnyc's reply. Didn't mean to repeat the same info!

To all MCC cep applicants I just found out that they are looking over notification letters today and sending emails out!! Good luck to all!

Thank you for the info. Hopefully emails go out today :) Keep us posted.
