http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3046.html

as for me...i took and passed my nclex-rn last midmarch 2006, my i140 was received by uscis last june 29, 2006, and my ds230 submitted around end of sept. 2006...and basically i dunno where my visa processing stage is right now coz the agency is taking care of it. do you think its possible to be issued a visa for my case by end of next year(2007) or am i dreaming too much? do you think it would take 2 years more of waiting time esp. now w/ the retrogression which i think affected my case? i really have no idea.

to ms.suzanne and lawrence = :bow::yelclap::bowingpur:cheers::yeah:

...i do commend you for all the help. all hail.

no. i don't think it will take that long. you are already in packet 3 so the moment there are available visas again you will be the 1st ones to be interviewed in the us embassy.

the new congress would most prob. tackle this problem early next year and most prob. be lifted by mid next year. the last retrogression only lasted 6-7 months.

Wow, Congrats. :monkeydance: :balloons:

Thank you very much, Lawrence01 ! ! !

i hope you will get the visa by the end of the 2007. Iam still optimistic. my korean friend, applied for AOS august 10 and received green card few days ago. so who really knows how we are going to be affected by the retrogression.

Susane, you give some really good legal advice,,,,

If you already had an interview date, then a visa is reserved for you. They are reserved before the interview date is even scheduled.

Hi Suzzane4,

I'd like to correct you with your statement that "a visa number is reserved for you when you have the interview date". We just had our interview last week and the consul was requesting for additional document. But before we left the window, the consul told us that "to make sure to comply the said document as soon as possible because the visa for nurses is running out". This is the exact words from the consul. We even thought before that once we have our interview, we are already safe even if they request for any additional documents. But that's not true. The visa will only be reserved or given to you until you are cleared by the consul.

you are completely right, there is no such thing as visa reservation.

Just want to comment too. I maybe wrong too. What I feel is this, a visa no "maybe" reserved because first, it came from NVC, secondly medical is valid for a year, consulate will never give you schedule just by risking you to wait for years due to retrogression if there are some more lacking requirements to be submitted, unless otherwise you are medically denied by the consulate to wait for years, thirdly consulate will not give you schedule unless there's a visa no. reserved for you, you are lucky enough to have scheduled date, make a quick move then! don't worry you will have it.!

arys1075... thanks for the comment!!! With regards to the visa number, please note that if a visa number is reserved for you, the consul on the first place should not warned me that a visa for nurses is running out. She told us to comply before end of the month because anytime sometime november, the visa for nurses will be used up.

Yes, you are right that they normally wont schedule you for an appointment if no visa is available. Please note that it doesn't mean that visa has already been reserved for you. Don't tell me that I can submit the necessary document even this coming December since the visa is reserved for you? Actually, what they had requested from us is the police clearance for my spouse. There was a typo error on the date stipulated in the police clearance. Anyway, what is important, we already submitted the said document to the US embassy. Please note, a visa will only be reserved for you once you are cleared by the embassy. ciao!!! bless us all!!!

this is "the early bird gets the food". you are scheduled because there are visa numbers, but it doesn't mean you will be 100% guaranteed you will get visa. if by any chance you fail the last step during interview, the visa will go to others, some unfortunate applicants will miss the visa.

kurt2006 - you were interviewed last week too? Who knows, we might have been sitting next to each other! :) Regarding your visas, I'm glad to hear you submitted your document immediately. Since retro will be setting in, they'll probably have more time to prepare our visas. Here's hoping we get our visas soon.

arys, agp_ph, happylearning, leis, jakey, bottomless - do you have schedules already? Good luck guys... you're in my prayers.

there's nothing to worry about retrogression. unavailability of immigrant visa nos. could make us upset or even depressed but on the other hand, while waiting for our visas, we stay with our loved ones, our friends, some colleagues. there's so much things to do and enjoy our lives... one thing for sure that when we reach us to work or to migrate, we fell homesickness as if we want to come back home,... well that's the circle of life...
