New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

http://www.vtprofessionals.org/opr1/nurses/ on this page you will see, Professional Information, under it is Verification..... that's it, click it open... that's the form... print and filled it up, together with bank draft payment, mail to the vermont nursing board.. then the vermont nursing board will send it directly to australia..

http://vtprofessionals.org/ this is also another page where you can get the form..."Request a Verification of License"...

the instructions are in these sites.. just read and follow..

vermont nsg board must send it directly to AHPRA NSW... check the address at the AHPRA website..

thanks for the update and good luck to your application..

Are there new documents required by AHPRA not included in the past requirements?

@gemini_star

when i called VIA, they said the original passport is required, but then again you can ask reiken and the others who have the 456 already. :)

original passport?

or maybe a copy of the original :) I know they only want certified copies of the original documents, like transcripts. the only original document they want is your CV.

yup, maybe the others can tell us if this is true.

Specializes in Oncology, Medical.

yes, they do require the original passport for the embassy, hoping for a multiple entry too. thanks!

to send the original passport to AHPRA? or just to the embassy for the visa?

anybody here taking a bridging course in Mercy Health Training Institute this August 2010?

Have a question on the AHPRA application form.

I am married but have chosen to keep my name as is. Never changed it, like it this way and hubby is mature enough to not care :)

My question is, on the name, I still tick on the Miss and not the Mrs?

Also about the question #3 regarding the passport, do you submit the original with your initial application, meaning prior to bp, or just a copy? from what I understand from AHPRA website, you submit the original right before registration, because even the Australian visa should be in it already. If so I just tick No and not provide my passport details? If yes, will they mail me back my passport?

Thanks for the help

If you're married, then you should tick Mrs since because the family name dat will be seen in your marriage contract would be your husband's. That's just what I think.. heheh

Regarding question #3, I think you dont have to provide your original passport since it has a checklist on the last page of the application form which states certified photocopy of your passport. ^_^

oops, forgot to read the last page, hihihi, yup, says certified copy, thanks headz. got confused by NewMacs and Gemini Stars posts. I think they were talking about the visa application, not for the AHPRA.

I don't use my husbands last name, and all my legal documents, including passport, driver's license and PRC card are still under my maiden name, which I intend to use for eternity hahaha. I'll probably just tick on Miss and then provide the marriage contract later on.

Thanks for the reply :)
