Hello everyone So I took the AANP in March 2011 after taking the Fitz course, and failed (personally I didn't think I was ready), but I thought I would try. Then I purchased the Barkley Assoc CD... Read More

Well... 344 out of 350. Talk about a disappointment. So disgusted! So close and now I have to wait two months to retest. Words can not describe how I am feeling! More research material than anything else. On a good note.... I will pass it the next time!

Missed by 6 points I am so sorry sweetie! Good grief. Hum.. well as you said you will get it next time. I imagine that is a hard test. No way to really study for it and it ask things that are not specific to patient care. But you have two months to keep preparing. I wish it would have ended today for you. I really do. But everything is happening for a reason. Its hard to see what that reason is in a time like this. But there has to be some reason it is working out like this right now. One of the first things we learn to do as babies is to hold our heads up, so you keep holding your head up high. All of this is gonna make you that much better of an NP when you get out there. You will know clinical and policy stuff like the back of your hand real soon. I will keep you in my prayers. God bless you sweetheart.

Yes Aslingtl, this too shall pass . It has too. I worked with a RN that is absolutely brilliant. He failed his boards 3 times before finally passing. That was 15 years ago. Now its a funny story he tells. You will look back on this and laugh. Right now, just take a few days off from deserve it. Then refocus and see what you could have done differently on both test. Write down some things that you need to look up and start there. Which exam will you take the next time around? If its the AANP let me know. What study materials are you using? How often are you studying? Barkley suggest having a study partner and really learning the things you don't know inside and out.

Some study tips I have is to not waste time reading what you already know, skip that. If you don't know something like you should, read about it in 2 to 3 different resource books and watch the video on youtube. Its really helpful. Cover the answers before you read the question. Anticipate the answer, and then look at the you see the one you thought it should be? Go with that first, then look at the other answers and decide why they are not correct and confirm why the one you chose is. Find your special place and time for studying. For me, I like to study so I study all day long, even now . Its just my thing. But if you study better at night then make sure you set aside that time for studying. Don't study when your tired. Or if you want to study when you are tired, study the things you already know then. There is nothing wrong with reinforcement. Also take out time and meditate each yourself up with confidence. Make little signs that say "I will pass this test" or something like that. Start speaking it out into the universe...words become things and we have what we speak. Pray without ceasing. Keep thanking God in advance. Ask him to show you what lesson you need to learn in all of this so you don't keep repeating this test. I am adding you to my nightly prayer list. You will get it next time honey. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know and I will do it if I can.

I just took that AANP FNP exam yesterday and did not pass. As with most comments on here, I was devastated. I really felt like I was prepared for the test, and obviously I was not! I felt like i didn't know the answer to over half the questions. But i always did really well on practice tests. I did the Fitzgerald review course and had no doubts that I knew all the information. If anyone has tips on what I can do to better prepare I would really appreciate it!
