Failed the AANP and ANCC
Hello All Just wanted to say that I took the AANP on April 26th and passed. I was and AM SO excited! I must say, my test was originally scheduled a few weeks prior and I went to take it, got through approximately 130 questions when their computer crashed! They lost ALL my answers! I was devastated. The thought of going there again, sitting down for all those answers and experiencing yet ANOTHER day of stress, was stressing me out even more. But i rescheduled and passed. I would like to thank all of you who gave me support, confidence, positive energy, and most of all Prayers! Jane33 you rock-thanks for your constant prayers!!!! You all have been a blessing in my life and the prayers helped me above and beyond. I want everyone to know that you can do it! Good luck to all of you and first and foremost may God bless you all and keep you safe, in the glory of Jesus!!!! Yeah!

What Is The Difference
Hello Franemtnurse APNs work autonomously as long as the MD is "reachable" in person or on phone. The APN also can prescribe RX depending on the state of certification. She/he is 'advanced' in medical teachings, diagnosing, and treating patients. PA are physician assistance, they cannot diagnose/treat without the MD reviewing the case and signing off on it. Please visit the AANP government website and you will find more information there. There are many restrictions to practice according to each state. Good Luck!

Trying to find a NP job
BMW330 So sorry you're having a hard time. I know someone posted on going to a FAmily health clinic and I would have to agree. In NJ, NPs are usually asked to work in areas where they did their clinicals. Look at your local hospital "career links". If you have hospital experience, start there. Try local MDs offices as well. ONe of my clinical instructors told me that you have to "sell" yourself....meaning, when you speak to an MD in an interview, you need to tell him the importance of having an NP work for him, vs a PA or a MD "partner", etc... NPs are autonomous and work for less. Good luck!!

APEA vs. Fitzgerald Review
I totally agree with Jane and NPluvslsa. I love Hollier. I also did her online tests at APEA.com. Good Luck!

Jane I was trying to inbox you, but they have this rule, that I can't inbox without having "15" messages/blogs. I will try again. I saw your message to me, so if you can, inbox me again with your email address so that I can email you from my personal email address. Thank you so much!!

Failed the AANP and ANCC
NPluvsalsa Congratulations!!!! I am going to take the AANP exam first week of April and I feel like I can't get over the "tricky" questions. I've been using Hollier and I like her material. I already did Fitz. and Barkley. I feel like i know the answers, but second guess myself. I also feel that when I took the test twice, the questions were worded in a confusing manner....does that make sense? Maybe I'm not a good test taker anymore. A/w, I thank you for the advise and the help you have shared. I pray that I pass, I need to.....STRESSING OUT!!!

Aniva Congratulations on passing your exam!!!! I am so delighted to have so many great people like you come on and give such great advise. Thank you so much for all the information and for sharing your experience and thoughts. It is VERY helpful. I went onto the website you used, but used the ANP (Adult) test instead of the FNP as that's my major. Nevertheless, it has great test taking questions as well. Thank you again and I hope all this information will help myself and others pass the exam. Good Luck everyone!!!!

APEA vs. Fitzgerald Review
Hi Abby Congrats on getting your MSN....Hang in there. So I took the Fitz. Review and DID NOT like it. I ordered the APEA cds and books and have been using them (can't take her live course at the moment). I do like her CDs and question book much better than the Fitz. I think taking her course will be good for you. I had a classmate who took the AANP and said that the APEA course/questions helped her on the exam. You can even take the online questions on the APEA website (you have to pay for those). So, my advise is study, review, review, and review. But start reviewing and focusing on the subject you are least good at!!! You have time and good luck. God Bless!!!

Failed the AANP and ANCC
Jane, Zoey, Dancegrl, et al.... I am so happy that you all have posted. Back in November, 2011, I noticed that many people were not posting when they failed. So i felt like a bigger failure, thinking I'm among the minority. So I decided to write (my original post) to see what i was doing wrong. I failed twice and now that I'm about to take it a third time, I came back to my original post and saw so many positive replies. You all are very strong, positive, loving people. To come to this blog and post your thoughts, fears, hopes and to help those whom you don't know is Wonderful!!!! God bless you all. I wish you all much success and love; that you may become great role models and great NPs. I feel hopeful and confident that when I go retest, I will pass. Jane, I plan to take the AANP in March also. I will keep you all in my prayers as well. One day at a prometrix site, a woman came up to me (who knew I had failed b/c my husband told her why I was so sad) and told me to be confident and don't give up b/c her son was there taking his "teachers" certification and had failed 9 times before he had passed that day. I know its not the same test, but I can imagine how frustrating it must have been for him. Many would have given up, but he didn't! Neither should we!!! Be strong, be courageous, be positive. We're all nurses.....we can do this! :thankya:

Need advice for the ANCC
The ANCC has a lot of ethical, scope of practice, and medicare/medicaid questions. Make sure you cover these areas. Best of Luck and stay "POSITIVE".

Failed the AANP and ANCC
Hi Buster4! Thanks for all your wonderful input and hopeful wishes! I ordered the APEA book of questions, just received it and started doing them. I have my CDs from Barkley & Assoc which is wonderful, but I will look into Amelie's CDs as well. You're right, it is hard work and I have to put a lot of time into this. After failing the AANP, it is required that one takes a 15 credit course before you can reapply. With ANCC, I just need to reapply in 2 months, which gives me time to study more. I would love to do the AANP over, but can't find a course that will give me 15 CEs. Thank you again!

Failed the AANP and ANCC
Hello everyone So I took the AANP in March 2011 after taking the Fitz course, and failed (personally I didn't think I was ready), but I thought I would try. Then I purchased the Barkley Assoc CD and Home Course and studied better from his work. So in Aug, 2011, I took the ANCC and it was FULL of ethical, cultural, and Standard of Nursing questions, all of which I didn't study; hence I failed again. I'm sooo sad and ready to give up. But I worked so hard. I have two small children and really need to pass. I'm losing hope...Did anyone else fail more than once? Is there hope? Any help is good help. Thank you!!!
