Zoloft headache..question for psych nurses

Published

I am hanging in there with the headache in the hope it will go away...I'm starting my 2nd week on it.

In your experience does the headache fade and if so when? Just wondering how long to stick it out...or not.

Thanks for any input from those in the know about this drug. :)

Hi mattsmom81,

When I took Celexa, I had a headache for about 2 to 3 weeks but then it went away. I'm now on Lexapro (also for depression and anxiety) and didn't experience any headaches, only a little nausea, but that left after a couple of weeks as well.

Hi Kris! Thanks for answering me. I don't notice much positive effect yet from the Zoloft but I will give it some more time. I guess this 'wating' is a universal problem with these drugs, eh...LOL!!

mattsmom,

I also take Zoloft. When I originally started taking it about five years ago, I hated some of the side effects, headaches, sweating profusely, and feeling like I was constantly tired. I quit taking it after two weeks. When I told a friend about the problems I had with the Zoloft, he strongly encouraged me to go back on and give it about 3-4 weeks and the side effects would diminish. I did as he recommended, and, he was right!

I have been on Zoloft for five years and my husband, family and I are much happier for it!

Hang in there! If there is no change after a month or so, call your MD.

Hi Camay, I too am sweating more than usual particularly at night (I already have hot flashes) the sweating will not stop me from taking the drug but the headache will...if it persists. I will give it some time...thanks for the input...from everybody! Other than feeling a bit 'blunted' and 'flat I don't notice much otherwise, but its early yet.

Glad to hear it has been a helpful medication for some here! :)
