Hi! I am new to travel nursing with 2 years of RN experience with Rehab, LTC, Vents, Trachs, Covid and TF. Was a CNA and then a CMA both total over 16 yrs of healthcare experience prior to getting RN license.
I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on where to start other then Med/Surg. Do I have the qualifications to go into the Step-down Unit? Do I need to obtain specific certificates for the Step-down unit?
Also, I love learning new things and I was thinking about getting my Telemetry certificate. Any thoughts?
Any advice is appreciated and thank you in advance!

Probably you do. In any case, you will be filling out an agency skills checklist and managers can then make a decision to interview you or not when they see your profile. Different step downs can be very different. ACLS is a must in that setting. Unsure of the value of telemetry certification, but more credentials never hurt!

Tele can be fast pace unknown as to your present states ratio requirements? CA requires 2:1 in ER but if census is low be prepared to float or that department is usually cut first.
