I would like to get your thoughts and feelings on a subject that in the past was given little attention, but is now getting the attention that it deserves: Elder Abuse.

Any insights or things that in your practice you have found helpful in discussing and recognizing this form of abuse.

Anyone who abuses the elderly,children,and animals has my immediate hatred.All were put on this earth for our protection...not abuse or neglect.

I agree with Mandy. It is NO different than abusing children or helpless animals. I can't help but believe there is a special place in hell for people to perpetrate such abuses.

I'm Director of HomeCare and called crisis services in for a very informative inservice on elder abuse for my staff. She brought up all types of abuse which was good because some of the girls didn't realize that keeping glasses away from someone who can't see was abuse;even if it keeps them from wandering.
