Ok, gotta fun question... What is your favorite nursing skill, and what is the weirdest thing about you as a nurse, that maybe not everyone knows about? I'll start.
My favorite nursing skill is venipuncture, be it phlebotomy or IV starts, I love it.
The weird thing about me is the fact that one of my favorite pastimes is watching autopsies.
For obvious reasons, I don't mention that one too much. I am probably the only person in the country to have FAVORITE forensic pathologist. Sigh...oh, well.
Ok, y'all's turn!
What do I love?
I used to work in a community health center with a doc that did a beautiful ingrown toenail removal. I loved assisting him, and I miss it now! Ditto the above on abscesses in all kinds of weird places. The more pus, the better.
Now, I love a good postpartum hemorrhage and/or manual placenta/clot extraction. Not so much for the patient, but I love the instant gratification of all those clots. And it's just enough adrenaline for me.
What is weird about me? Geez, what isn't weird about me?

You just described me to a 'T'! I'm great at IV starts, love watching autopsies, and HATE grotty dentures with a pink and purple passion.......
:barf01:
I also take pride in my deftness at inserting Foleys. I got good at this early on and was the first in my nursing class to be allowed to do them independently. I've done newborns and 600-pounders, enlarged prostates and combative LOLs with weird anatomy........you name it, I've cathed it!
Yep, we're odd ducks all right........but it's OK, they know us here.
