Hi all! I don't graduate until 2007 but why not start looking for a new place to live now? I know New York is a huge state but where is the best place to live for a single, childless new grad? Thanks!

Don't move to NY, any part. It is the worst state in the US to live in.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you like fast-paced city life with a zillion things to do and see there's no other place that compares to Manhattan.

Z's playa is right. Manhattan is the place to be. I just moved here 2 months ago and I am happy I did.

whoever said that new york city was restricted to the old, married with children and experienced rns only?

seriously, what are you looking for? new york city is a fast-paced town and if you're into exictement and being multi-tasked, come on board. other parts of new york state (especially upper new york state) are beautiful---plenty of green forestry, pretty lakes, breathtaking mountain and landscapes....

many colleagues recommend manhattan to reside (although the rents are the highest) because of the convenience location (transportation-wise). and if you can live in the big apple and survive the daily hustle-and-bustle and rat-race pulse of daily living, you can live anywhere else on the planet. each new yorker has an honorary phd in survival skills of daily living. so get you game face (blank stare) ready. :rotfl:

In all seriousness...

I'm young, single, childless, and moved to Manhattan in May for nursing school. I don't have a heck of a lot of time to do anything, but there's always something to do in the city. Muy expensive, though. I've always wanted to live here, so it's kind of a dream come true for me. The only thing is there are SO many people, all doing their own things, that it has the potential to be a little lonely. I joined match.com just to meet people. Well, also because my nursing school has a male:female ratio reminiscent of a convent, but that's a different story.

I would definately move into Manhattan. i used to live in Forest Hills which is about a 10 minute subway ride outside manahattan. If you want to save some cash you could always try Queens or Brooklyn. There is nothing like living in Manhattan. Good luck!!
